a) General information
• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become
dangerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high
humidity, moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and
protect it from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed
if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height
can damage the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the
device.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an
expert or at a qualified shop.
• If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or other technical personnel.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into
a warm one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. Allow the
product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and
putting it to use. This may take several hours.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cable is not pinched, kinked or
damaged by sharp edges.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them.
This poses a risk of injury.
b) Battery

• The battery should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of

Operation
a) Inserting a battery into the thermometer
• Remove the battery compartment cover (12) on the back of the product (slide in the direction
of the arrow).
• Insert one AAA battery (not included) with correct polarity into the battery compartment
(observe plus/+ and minus/-).
• After inserting the battery, all display elements will appear on the thermometer's LCD display.
• Replace the battery compartment cover.
The battery life depends on the quality of the battery and the ambient conditions. We
recommended that you use high-quality alkaline batteries.
b) Setting up and mounting
• The external sensor is designed for sheltered outdoor use. It should not be exposed to
direct sunlight, as this will result in incorrect temperature readings. Exposing the external
sensor to precipitation can also lead to incorrect readings, as precipitation cools the surface
of the sensor housing. Choose the mounting location carefully so that the external sensor
measures the correct temperature. The sensor is water resistant, but it is not pressure-tight.
Avoid submerging the outdoor sensor in water.
• Lay the sensor cable through sufficiently large openings or cable glands in windows or doors.
Do not lay the cable together with or in the direct vicinity of electrical cables.
• Seal open areas with silicon or another similar material.
