3 Safety

The following safety guidelines must be observed in order to prevent physical injury and
damage to objects or to the power unit itself.
Warning:
- Electrical installation must be performed in accordance with the applicable national and local
regulations
- Electrical installation, maintenance and repairs shall be made by a skilled electrical
engineer.
- Disconnect the power supply before carrying out work on the unit.
- Exposure to high voltages can be dangerous for people with a pacemaker.
- The power unit is only intended as a power source for Simco-Ion ionisation equipment.
- The power unit must not be used in environments that pose a fire or explosion hazard.
- The power unit must not be exposed to vibrations or knocks.
- Make sure that the equipment is properly earthed.
Earthing is needed to ensure proper operation and to avoid electrical shocks upon contact.
- If changes, adjustments, etc. have been made without prior consent in writing, or if no
original parts have been used for repairs, CE approval for the equipment will be withdrawn
and the equipment will no longer be under guarantee.
The maximum output current (short-circuit current) of the power unit is restricted to 3 mA.
Touching the high voltage of the power unit will lead to an unpleasant electric shock that can
cause a shock reaction.
