the EU and is therefore marked with
The product is suitable for indoor use only. Protect
it against dripping water, splash water and high air
humidity. The admissible ambient temperature
range is −20 °C to +50 °C.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use
chemicals or water.
No guarantee claims for the product and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material dam-
age will be accepted if the product is not correctly
used or not expertly repaired.
If the product is to be put out of oper-
ation definitively, dispose of the product in
accordance with local regulations.
2 Applications
TCB-22 does not require a power supply; the signal is
passively converted by means of two audio transform-
ers. It can be used for the following applications, e. g.:
– conversion of unbalanced audio signals with micro-
phone level or line level into balanced signals and
vice versa
– reduction of interference with long signal lines by
balancing the signal transmission
– prevention of hum loops by galvanic isolation of
inputs and outputs
– adaptation of RCA jack or 3.5 mm jack to XLR jack
and vice versa
-– adaptation of stereo jack to 2 × RCA and vice versa
– lossless conversion of a stereo signal into a mono
signal
– 1 : 1 mixing of two mono signals

3 Operation
3.1 Conversion of unbalanced signals
into balanced signals
1) Connect the signal source (s) to the jacks UNBAL-
ANCED INPUT: Either use the RCA jacks or the
3.5 mm stereo jack. To keep interference to a min-
imum, the unbalanced connection cable between
the signal source and TCB-22 should be short.
2) Pick up the balanced signals to be routed to subse-
quent devices at the XLR jacks BALANCED OUTPUT.
3) For transmission of stereo signals or two inde-
pendent mono signals, make sure to set both DIP
switches STEREO / MONO to the position STEREO.
However, set the DIP switches to the position
MONO if a stereo signal is to be converted into a
mono signal or if two mono input signals are to be
mixed. The mixed signal is then available at both
outputs.
3.2 Conversion of balanced signals
into unbalanced signals
When converting balanced signals into unbalanced
signals, TCB-22 is operated in reverse direction:
1) Connect the signal source (s) to the jacks BAL-
ANCED OUTPUT. Use XLR adapters*, if necessary.
*XLR jack to XLR jack, e. g. NA-3FF
2) Pick up the converted signals at the jacks UNBAL-
ANCED INPUT.
3) Set the DIP switches STEREO / MONO accordingly
(see chapter 3.1, item 3).
