How does VOSS.farming's horse fl y trap "Tabanus-Trap edge" work?
The principle of the horse fl y trap is quickly explained: A black ball mimics
the back of an animal or a human body. Horse fl ies can only distinguish
light and dark. The black ball and the white cover make the ideal contrast to
confuse the insects. The black ball hangs in the sun and heats up. This way,
the horse fl y confuses the ball with a warm-blooded creature. The fl y will try
to bite the animal and fails on the puncture-resistant material. Due to their
bad fl ight acrobatics, the horse fl y can only fl y upwards, where it expects
freedom but the tarp cover traps the fl y and it is forced to go up into the
capture container. From there, the insect can no longer escape and humans
and animals do not need to fear it anymore.
