BEFORE USING THE DEVICE, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS
COMPLETELY AND CAREFULLY. CORRECT APPLICATION IS VITAL TO THE PROPER
FUNCTIONING OF THE DEVICE.
INTENDED USER PROFILE:
The intended user should be a licensed medical professional, the patient, the patient's
caretaker, or a family member providing assistance. The user should be able to read,
understand and be physically capable to perform all the directions, warnings and
cautions provided in the information for use.
INDICATIONS: The Procare Tibia Fracture Brace is designed to provide support to
the lower leg. It may be suitable for use following tibia/fibula diaphyseal fractures.
Soft-good/semi-rigid designed to restrict motion through elastic or semi-rigid
construction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: N/A
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

• This product is to be used under the supervision of a medical professional namely
a physician and not intended for unsupervised public use.
• If pain, swelling, changes in sensation or other unusual reactions occur while
using this product, you should contact your doctor immediately.
• Do not use over open wounds.
• Do not use this device if it was damaged and/or packaging has been opened.
• If you develop an allergic reaction and/or experience itchy, red skin after coming
into contact with any part of this device, please stop using it and contact your
healthcare professional immediately.
NOTE: Contact manufacturer and competent authority in case of a serious incident
arising due to usage of this device.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
NOTE: patients will only have to perform steps A, B, E, F and G
1) Sit in a chair. Place the stockinette over your lower leg so it extends over the knee.
(Fig. 1)
2) Loosen the hook and loop straps on the brace. Slide the brace over the lower leg so the
patella relief of the brace fits comfortably over the knee. (Fig. 2)
3) Physician only Check to insure that the distal portion of the brace does not extend
below the ankles. (Fig. 3) If it does, you will need to trim the length with cast scissors.
(Note if you have to trim the length you may need to move the foot component proxi-
mally to the next set of mounting holes.)
4) Physician only Once the anterior and posterior are positioned properly on the leg tight-
en the straps enough to hold the brace in place. If you need to adjust the location of the

foot plate simply loosen four stainless steel allen screws with the allen key provided.
Slotting in the uprights of the foot component as well as the posterior of the brace,
allow you to slide the foot component distal, proximal, anterior and posterior. Once you
have located the foot component properly, tighten all four allen screws. (Fig. 4)
5) Tighten the foot component strap over the top of the foot. (Fig. 5)
6) Now that the foot component is anchored to the foot, tighten all straps starting at
the bottom strap closest to the foot and working your way up. The straps should be
cinched to produce a snug, comfortable fit. (Fig. 6)
7) Straps should be adjusted throughout the day to ensure the snug fit is properly main-
tained. Be sure to wear a lace up shoe with the brace to provide extra support.

USE AND CARE
• Never remove the brace unless instructed by your medical professional.
• Remove the brace while seated.
• The brace may be washed using a mild detergent in warm water. Rinse thoroughly and
towel dry.
• The stockinette may be washed in warm water with a mild detergent. After thorough
rinsing, allow the stockinette to air dry.
• Be sure you bathe with the brace on. Once you have dried off and are seated then:
remove the brace, dry it off, apply a dry stockinette, reapply the brace.
WARRANTY: DJO, LLC will repair or replace all or part of the unit and its accessories for
material or workmanship defects for a period of six months from the date of sale.

INDICACIONES: El dispositivo ortopédico Procare para fracturas de tibia está diseñado para

fracturas diafisiales de tibia/peroné. Producto blando/semirrígido diseñado para
restringir el movimiento a través de una estructura elástica o semirrígida.

• Este producto debe utilizarse bajo la supervisión de un profesional médico, como por ejemplo

• Si sufre algún dolor, inflamación, cambios de sensibilidad o cualquier otra reacción poco
frecuente al
utilizar este producto, póngase en contacto con su médico inmediatamente.
• No debe aplicarse sobre heridas abiertas.
• No utilice este dispositivo si está dañado o si el envase está abierto.
• Si desarrolla una reacción alérgica y/o experimenta picazón y la piel se enrojece después de
entrar
en contacto con cualquier parte de este dispositivo, deje de usarlo y comuníquese con su
profesional de la salud inmediatamente.
NOTA: Comuníquese con el fabricante y la autoridad competente en caso de un incidente grave
que surja debido al uso de este dispositivo.
INSTRUCCIONES DE COLOCACIÓN:
NOTA: los pacientes sólo tienen que efectuar los pasos A, B, E, F y G explicados arriba.
1) Siéntese en una silla. Coloque la estoquinete sobre la parte inferior de la pierna, de modo que
se extienda sobre la rodilla. (Fig. 1)
2) Afloje las correas tipo velcro en el soporte. Deslice el soporte sobre la parte inferior de la
pierna, de modo que el espacio vacío para la rótula en el soporte quede cómodamente sobre la
rodilla. (Fig. 2)
3) Sólo para el médico. Compruebe que la parte distal del soporte no se extienda por debajo de
los tobillos. (Fig. 3). Si se extiende tanto, usted deberá recortar la longitud con unas tijeras
de metal. (Nota: si usted tiene que recortar la longitud, es posible que tenga que mover el
componente de pie en sentido proximal hacia el siguiente grupo de orificios de montaje.)
4) Sólo para el médico. Una vez que se coloque apropiadamente la parte anterior y posterior en la
pierna, apriete las correas lo suficiente para mantener el soporte en su sitio. Si usted necesita
ajustar la posición de la placa del pie, afloje simplemente los cuatro tornillos allen de acero
inoxidable con la llave allen provista. Las ranuras en las partes verticales del componente de
pie, así como en la parte superior del soporte, le permiten deslizar el componente de pie en
sentido distal, proximal, anterior y posterior. Una vez que usted haya ubicado apropiadamente
el componente del pie, apriete los cuatro tornillos allen. (Fig. 4)
5) Apriete la correa del componente de pie sobre la parte superior de pie. (Fig. 5)
6) Ahora que el componente de pie está bien sujeto al pie, apriete todas las correas comenzando
en la parte inferior más cercana al pie y siguiendo con cada una de las demás correas en orden
ascendente. Las correas deben apretarse para que queden cómodamente ajustadas. (Fig. 6)
7) Las correas deben ajustarse a lo largo del día para garantizar que se mantenga
apropiadamente ese ajuste cómodo. Asegúrese de usar con la correa zapatos con cordones
para proporcionar un apoyo adicional.

EMPLEO Y CUIDADO
• Nunca retire el soporte a menos que se lo ordene su profesional médico.
• Siéntese primero antes de comenzar a retirar el soporte.
• Este soporte puede lavarse en agua tibia con un detergente suave. Enjuague abundantemente
y seque con una toalla.
• La estoquinete puede lavarse en agua tibia con un detergente suave. Después de un enjuague
a fondo, deje que la estoquinete se seque al aire.
• Asegúrese de bañarse con el soporte puesto. Después de bañarse y secarse haga lo siguiente:
retire el soporte, déjelo secar, aplique una estoquinete seca, vuelva a ponerse el soporte
