Security Headset

Intended Use
The Security Headset serves as an external microphone/earphone unit for operation on a hand-
held radio set with 3.5 mm and 2.5 mm standard jacks. Due to its transparent spiral cable, it
can be worn without attracting attention and is therefore especially suited for use in the field
of security. Use other than that described above will lead to damage to the product and invol-
ves other risks, such as shorts, fire, etc.
The safety instructions should be followed at all times!
Safety Instructions
Unauthorised modifications and/or changes to the product are not permitted.
When connecting the headset, the safety instructions of the radio set to which it is connected
must also be observed. The product may not be exposed to intensive, direct sunlight, extreme
temperatures (<-5°C / >50°C), strong vibrations, humidity, wetness or heavy mechanical stress.
The device and its packaging are no toys and do not belong in the hands of children.
Connection
You may only connect the headset to the microphone/earphone jack on the radio set.
The radio set must be switched off when connecting.
The headset is suited for connection to most handheld radio sets with a separate standard 2.5
mm/3.5 mm jack plug for external microphones/headsets.
Connect the earphone to the 3.5 mm jack plug of the headset and the microphone to the 2.5
mm jack plug. Only connect the headset to radio sets with a corresponding input (refer to the
operating manual of the radio set).
Preparation
Attach the ear plug to one end of the spiral cable. Put the other end of the spiral cable onto the
converter unit (round, black plastic part on the connection cable). Place the cable and the spi-
ral cable unobtrusively on your body or clothing. Attach the cable to your clothing with the clip.
Then attach the operating unit with the PTT button on your clothing as well. The microphone
is installed in the operating unit with the PTT button and the PTT/VOX switch. Position the unit
to ensure optimum communication (by adjusting it several times, if applicable). Plug the ear-
plug into your ear.

Handling

Radio sets have different volumes depending on their features and manufacturer. To
avoid damaging your hearing and the headset, set the volume on the radio set to mini-
mum prior to turning it on/off. Adjust a moderate volume after turning it on.

Manual PTT operation:
With the PTT/VOX switch on the operating unit, you can switch between PTT and VOX opera-
tion mode for the headset.
Set the switch to PTT.
As long as you keep the PTT button depressed, the radio set switches to transmission. To
receive, let go of the button.
VOX operation:
For this operating mode, your radio set must feature a VOX function (hands-free func-
tion).
Switch your radio set to VOX operation, set the PTT/VOX switch on the operation unit with the
PTT button to "VOX". In this position, the PTT button on the headset is deactivated. The radio
set starts broadcasting immediately as soon as you talk. After you finish speaking, the radio
set automatically switches to receive mode.
Maintenance, servicing and disposal
For hygiene reasons, the device is equipped with exchangeable ear plugs. The spiral cable can
be taken off for easier cleaning. The outside of the device should be cleaned with a soft, slight-
ly damp cloth or a dry brush. Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solvents as
these damage the product. Once the product becomes unusable, dispose of it in accordance
with the relevant statutory regulations.
