HBL / HBLE Instructions for Use – Hitch Box for Load
Anchor system for loads

5. Warning and Safety Instructions

• If both rope loops are used to carry or move the same load, an equal load distribution for both the rope loops
must be ensured. Jakob offers a Load-Bridge (page 3, image 1d) for this purpose.
• The HBL / HBLE must not come into contact with corrosive materials such as chlorine or acid.
• Absolutely no changes should be made to the HBL / HBLE.
• The suspension point should only be used for the purpose it is designed for.
• Prior to use of the HBL / HBLE, these «Instructions for Use» must have been read and completely understood in
all facets. Special attention should be given to the types of cable loop loads as shown in section 4. Use.
• Periodic inspections according to Point 6 should always be adhered to.
• All specifications for products that are used with the HBL / HBLE must be followed and maintained.
6. Inspection before use and recurring inspections
The inspection must be carried out before the rope loops are used for the first time, or with repeated use if the last inspection
took place ≥ one year before. The inspection has to be documented using the chart in the inspection attachment and then
confirmed with a signature.
Inspection criteria:
a. Check the last entries in the inspection attachment. (Only in the case of recurring inspections)
b. The rope loops are in a faultless condition. There are no inadmissible signs of wear such as: broken wire, kinked ropes,
pointed rope loops, corrosion or contusions with broken wire in the contact area of the hook.
c. The concrete ceiling displays no defects whatsoever. Visible spalling, cracks or signs of corrosion are not permissible.
For the initial use, it is recommended to request that the manufacturer confirm the concrete ceiling's faultless condition.
d. The pressure area of the load hook has a radius of curvature of r ≥ 6 mm.
e. The product description (label) is very legible.
The inspections must be carried out by qualified individuals.
The maximum loads for the HBL / HBLE (table 1) must not be exceeded. If an unexpected overload situation
arises, the owner or operator must ensure that before continuing operation an inspection is carried out and
documented in the inspection attachment. It is possible that the HBL / HBLE may no longer be fit for use.
