OPERATING FAULTS

Description
No sound can be heard.
The display shows "CD ERROR".
The audio system does not work and the
display does not light up.
The audio system does not work but the
display lights up.
The initial read time of a CD ("READ CD"
displayed) seems long.
No sound comes out of the left- or right-
hand speakers when using the radio or
a CD.
The volume decreases on its own.
Poor radio reception or no reception.
Causes
The volume is set to minimum or pause.
Your CD has been inserted upside down,
or your CD is severely damaged, or it is
neither an audio CD, a CD-R or a CD-RW
with audio tracks.
The audio system is not switched on.
The audio system fuse has blown.
The volume is set to minimum.
Speaker short circuit.
CD soiled.
MP3 CD.
The sound balance setting (left/right) is
incorrect.
Speaker disconnected.
The audio system has switched to ther-
mal protection mode; the sound volume
is decreased.
The vehicle is too far from the transmitter
to which the radio is tuned (background
noise and interference).
The reception is disrupted by interference
from the engine.
The aerial is damaged or not connected. Contact your dealer.

Solutions
Increase the volume or deactivate pause.
Eject your disc and reinsert it correctly or
insert another disc.
Switch the audio system on.
Replace the fuse (see information
on "Fuses" in the vehicle Driver's
Handbook).
Turn button 7 or press 13.
Contact a representative from the manu-
facturer.
Eject and clean the CD.
Wait: the CD MP3 requires a long time to
be read.
Correct the sound balance setting.
Contact your dealer.
The audio system will return to full per-
formance once the ambient temperature
has become lower.
Find another transmitter with better re-
ception in your area or deactivate the AF-
RDS function.
Contact your dealer.
