Kickback is the result of incorrect or improper
use of the power tool. Suitable precautions as
described below can be taken to prevent it.
Keep a firm grip on the power tool and bring
your body and your arms into a position which
allows you to absorb the kickback forces.
Always use the auxiliary handle, if applicable, to
ensure maximum control over kickback forces
or reaction torque during run-up. The operator
can take suitable precautions to control kick-
back forces and reaction torque.
Keep your hand away from turning attach-
ments. The attachment can move across your
hands during kickback.
Keep your body out of the area the power tool
will move to during kickback. Kickback will jerk
the power tool against the movement of the
abrasive disc at the jam.
Use extra caution near corners, sharp edges,
etc. Avoid the attachment recoiling from and
jamming in the work piece. The turning at-
tachment has a tendency to jam near corners,
sharp edges or when recoiling. This will result in
kickback and cause you to lose control.
Do not attach saw chains, router bits or ser-
rated saw blades. These types of accessories
commonly result in kickback, causing you to
lose control.
Special safety notices for polishing
Check the accessories for damage before use.
Never use damaged accessories.
Do not allow loose parts of the polishing bon-
net, particularly cords. Store away or trim the
cords. Loose cords which turn along can catch
your fingers or become tangled in the work
piece.
