Digital Depth Sliding Calliper

Intended Use
This calliper is predominantly used to measure the tyre profile. However, it can also be used to meas-
ure the depth of drillings, grooves and the like.
The integrated display allows convenient reading of the measurand.
The product must not get damp or wet.
Power supply is ensured via a 1.55 V/DC button cell battery (type: SR44 or SR44W).
Do not operate the product in any other way than that described above. This could lead to damage to
the product, which may give rise to hazards such as short circuit, fire and electric shock. The product
must not be modified or converted. Always observe the safety instructions included in these operating
instructions. Read the operating instructions carefully and keep them for later reference.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these
safety instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
We do not assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty will be
void in such cases.
• The product must not be modified or converted, as not only the CE approval will
become void but also the warranty.
• After rapid changes in temperature, the product requires some time to stabilise,
in order to adjust to the surrounding temperature, before it can be used.
• Electronic devices are not toys and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Please contact a qualified person if you are unsure about the safety and correct
use of the systemcomponents.
• Never leave the packaging material lying around unattended. Plastic film/bags
etc. can be dangerous playthings for children, there isa risk of suffocation.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, discon-
nect the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation.
• It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device shows visible signs of damage,
- the device no longer functions and
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long
period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• The product must not get damp or wet.

• Never pour fluids out above electrical devices.
• Maintenance, adjustment and repair may only be carried out by a qualified spe-
cialist or a specialised repair shop.
• If you have any questions, which are not answered in this manual, please con-
tact our technical service or another specialist.
Battery notes
• Keep batteries out of the reach of children.
• Please pay attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children
or domestic animals. If swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can lead to caustic burning of the skin. Therefore, use suitable protec-
tive gloves.
• Make sure that the battery is neither short-circuited nor thrown into a fire. There is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal batteries. There is a risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries
that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• If it is not to be used for a while (e.g. storage), remove the battery. Old batteries may leak and cause
damage to the product, which will lead to the loss of the warranty/guarantee.
• For the environmentally friendly disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries, please read the
chapter „Disposal".

Start-up
• Open the battery compartment and insert a 1.55V button cell battery (Type: SR44 or SR44W)
with the correct polarity (positive pole of the battery has to be pointed to the outside).
• Ensure the „Depth measuring tip" (1) is cleaned before use.
• Press the „ON/OFF" button (8), to switch on the calliper.
• Press the button „inch/MM" (7), in order to determine the presented unit of the measuring result
(Inches or Millimetres).
Adjust to zero position
Place the depth gauge with the „end stop" (5) on the „flat surface for zero-point-adjustment" (11)
and press the „zero point button" (9).
This nonrecurring adjustment of the initial position has to be redone on every battery change in
order to set the total zero point.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning.
Do not use any aggressive detergents, because they could damage the housing and the display.
Disposal
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used batteries/
rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
You thus fulfil the legal requirements and make your contribution to protecting the environment!

Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these symbols to
indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the
heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead.
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge to the
officialcollection points of your community, in our stores, or in any shop where bat-
teries or rechargeable batteries are sold.
