and join the mantelpiece (7).
Before locking the screws, adjust the position: of the columns
(6) to the length of the mantelpiece (7) leaving a 3 mm gap at
the front of the Ecofire; of the sides and back (9) and then fix
with the screws supplied.
There must be a gap of at least 2 mm at the side between the
columns (6) and sides (10) so the latter can be removed easily
if any work needs to be done on the Ecofire.
To align the sides (10) with the columns (6) act on the brackets
(8A) at the side of the frame (4) Item C.
4)(Fig. 2.6-5) Put some spots of silicone on the four column heads (6).
Position the top (11) and then adjust the brackets (A) until they
touch the top (11) Item E.
Insert the two scraper rods (T), for cleaning the Ecofire, through
the slots and through the two holes (X - Y) on the Ecofire boiler,
Item D.
Now screw them on the scrapers (Z) inside the exchanger
after having removed the cast iron back.
5)(Fig. 2.6-6) Position the extension (12) on top of the Ecofire feedbox.
Position the sides (10), fitting the head under the top (11), turn
the side and fit it in the groove at the bottom (3) and check
alignment with the columns (6).
Put a few drops of silicone on the top (11) by the internal edge
of the dome shaped element (13), centring it sideways and
positioning its front piece internally flush with the top slots (11).
Now put the cover in place (14).
Note: the pellets will be loaded through this opening.
Sand the cement parts down and apply a primer before painting the
surface.
3 – ECOFIRE: USE
3.1
DESCRIPTION OF STOVE OPERATION
3.1.1 STARTUP PHASE (lasts about 18 minutes)
AUTOMATIC LIGHTING:
Slide the switch (Z) from the central position (OFF) to the ON position
on the right (P) (PELLETS) (Fig. 24).
The STARTUP (YELLOW) light will stay on for approx. 18 minutes.
During this time, the stove will automatically reach its operating tempe-
rature.
A flame will appear in 4 minutes or so once the heating element has
come on.
The quantity of pellets used in the STARTUP phase is regulated by the
master board; only once the STARTUP phase is complete can the
stove be adjusted to meet your own needs.
MANUAL LIGHTING:
The stove can be lit manually by using an ecological firelighter (Fig.
25). Place a firelighter cube in the burn pot, light it with a match and
place half a handful of pellets in the burn pot. Lastly, close the door and
set the stove to automatic mode by sliding switch (Z) to position (P).
RESETTING THE STOVE
(procedure for resetting electric functions)
Hold switch (Z) in the central position (OFF) for a few seconds before
starting the lighting phase or if there is a fault (where necessary, also
unplug the stove).
LIGHTING WITH TIMER:
The stove can also be lit using an optional timer. Refer to the booklet on
the programmer clock attached for these functions.
3.1.2 OPERATING PHASE
Approximately 18 minutes after switch-on, the stove will automatically
enter the OPERATING phase (green light on).
In order to make the transition from STARTUP phase to OPERATING
phase, enabling must be received from a minimum smoke temperatu-
re probe (ref. F 4.1.6) that detects when the fire chamber reaches an
operating temperature of approx. 46°C.
During the OPERATING phase, the following values can be regulated:
· the stove's heat output in the approx. range 2,000 to 9,500 kcal/h
(knob A)
· setting of the desired room temperature (knob X)
· speed of the heat exchanger fan for the hot air (knob Y)
Operating instructions:
· Potentiometer A: this adjuster is used to set the pellet feeding rate to
one of 6 settings in the range 0.5 to 2.5 kg/h and, at the same time, the
speed of the draught fan motor. The red loading light starts blinking to
indicate that the auger is working.
· Potentiometer X: read the temperature off the control panel and set
24
the room temperature thermostat by turning A to the 3 setting or
higher and setting X according to the requirements of the room to be
heated (in the range 15 to 35°C). Once the set room temperature has
been reached, the stove automatically shifts to the second setting (LED
on in fig. 26).
N.B. To keep fuel consumption to a minimum (rate 0.6 kg/h) we sug-
gest you set room thermostat X to 35°C and A to the minimum setting
(1 mark) so that the thermostat will not operate.
· Potentiometer Y: the hot air fan will start operating automatically as
soon as it is enabled by a minimum temperature probe set to 46°C (ref.
G 4.1.7) and can be set to any of 6 speeds. Warning: if the temperatu-
re should exceed 110°C, the fan automatically shifts to maximum spe-
ed to expel any excess heat that has built up (safety device ref. H 4. 1.
7 trips) before returning to the chosen setting.
Fig. 24: ROOM TEMP . THERMOSTAT LIGHT
N.B. Never use alcohol, petrol, kerosene or other liquid fuels to light the
fire. Keep such materials well away from the fire. Do not use oil- or
chemical-based firelighters.
3.1.3 TURNING OFF THE STOVE
Slide switch (Z) back to the central position (OFF). The pellet auger will
stop and the other motors will be turned off by their respective mini-
mum temp. thermostats after approx. one hour, once the cleaning
cycle has terminated and the stove has been allowed to cool (to <45°C).
N.B. Never turn the stove off by unplugging it. Wait for the automatic
switch-off cycle to finish. It is normal for the draught fan to carry on
working for a period of time.
3.2 WOOD FUELLING (Fig. 27)
· The stove has been designed to use wood as an alternative fuel.
Obviously, the logs must be put into the stove manually, whilst intervals
between refuelling will depend on their quality and size.
· The stove can be lit manually or automatically, using pellets, and wood
then fed in once it is operating.
· When using wood, the knob on the left (A) (Fig. 26) must be turned
(this only affects the draught fan and combustion air) to the following
settings:
· middle (settings 3 - 4) for a small piece of wood
· towards the maximum setting (5 - 6) when there are several pieces or
one big piece of wood.
3.2.1 MANUAL LIGHTING WITH WOOD
It is preferable to use pellets when lighting the fire, but if none are
available, small pieces of well-dried wood must be used.
Slide switch (Z) from the central position (OFF) to the (L) (wood) set-
ting on the left. Turn knob (A) to the third or fourth setting and light the
fire manually, using ecological firelighters if desired.

3.3 CLEANING INSIDE THE FIRE CHAMBER
In order to guarantee efficient and regular operation, the stove must
be cleaned frequently and thoroughly. Allow the stove to cool before
cleaning:
EVERY DAY (Fig. 28)
Every day, or each time pellets are loaded into the stove, remove the
ashes that build up at the bottom of the fire chamber. Remove both the
BURN POT and ASH PAN, clean the area underneath the burn pot and
the back wall along the base and in the corners. Remove ashes from
under the rounded part of the fire chamber and clean the high-tempe-
rature ceramic glass of the door (if necessary).
Thorough cleaning ensures that combustion air is allowed to flow freely
through the holes in the BURN POT.
Ashes can be removed simply and effectively by using a vacuum
cleaner (use an "industrial" type dry vacuum model suitable for vacu-
uming up particularly large particles).
EVERY 3 - 4 DAYS (Fig. 29)
Lift the two external pipe scraper levers once or twice, allowing them to
fall back under their own weight, as illustrated in Fig. 29, then vacuum
up the ashes along the base of the back wall (as in the point above).
Also adjust the knob located bottom right, moving it as illustrated in Fig.
31. This movement operates a comb-like mechanism that cleans the
smoke holes A from the inside.
AT REGULAR INTERVALS (Fig. 30)
