3. SAFETY REGULATIONS

Safe use of the MINOS POWER
This wheelchair meets the technical requirements of the EU guideline on electromagnetic compati-
bility. However, the risk of interference from other electronic equipment cannot be excluded. High
frequency radiation is found, for example, near radar and transmission systems, near all types of
transmitting/receiving equipment, cell phones, etc.
Do not operate the ON/OFF switch while driving. This switch turns off the electronics and the whe-
elchair will come to an immediate standstill.
Adding or removing components/accessories changes the weight and possibly the dimensions of the
wheelchair in such a way that the driving may be affected.
For correct adjustment of the various components, it is important that:
• The correct tools are used
• Technical terms such as loosen and tighten are clear
• The bolts and nuts are securely fastened after adjustment!
Technical terms:
LOOSEN : Turn to the left = turn anticlockwise
TIGHTEN : Turn to the right = turn clockwise
Loosened: Turned so much that adjustment (sliding, moving) is possible.
Tightened: Turned so much that adjustment (sliding, moving) is no longer possible.
Attention!
Read user manuals
and enclosed documentation.
4. EMC WARNINGS
ATTENTION: IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS INFORMATION ON THE POSSIBLE
EFFECTS OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION ON YOUR MINOS POWER.
Electromagnetic radiation (EMC) from radio waves
Electronic wheelchairs can be sensitive to electromagnetic radiation (EMC), i.e. interfering electro-
magnetic energy (EM) originating from sources such as radio transmitters, TV transmitters, amateur
radio transmitters, walkie-talkies and cell phones. The interference (from radio sound waves) can
cause unintentional braking, unintentional movement or movement in an unintended direction and
can permanently damage the control system of the electronic wheelchair. The intensity of the inter-
fering energy is measured in volts per meter (V/m). All electronic wheelchairs can resist a certain
intensity of electromagnetic interference (EMC). This is called the immune level. The higher this
immune level is, the greater the protection. At the moment and with current technology it is possi-
ble to achieve an immune level of at least 20 V/m, which represents useful protection against the
common sources of EMC radiation. These electronic wheelchairs, in the models delivered, and
without any further modification, have an immune level of 20 V/m and have been tested for the
above requirements according to the prEN12184 guideline.
There are a number of sources of relatively intensive electromagnetic fields in our day-to-day envi-
ronment. Some of these sources are clearly marked and easy to avoid. Others are not visible and
