Installation manual - micro 1000® Halogen
rear direction indicator
Read through this installation manual closely before your start with the installation!
WARNING! If you are uncertain about correct fitting or the electric connections, please seek professional help as only correct fitting will en-
sure permanent attachment. Incorrect fitting can lead to accidents. For this reason you should check that the flasher is attached securely before
every journey; if necessary fix the flasher again properly and align it again straight away.
Incorrect electrical connection can lead to short circuiting (cable fire) or damage to other electronic components.
WARNING! The micro 1000® Halogen is designed only as a rear direction indicator for motorcycles and this design is unsuitable for any
other purpose. Any use other than that given, e.g. as a front direction indicator, is nor permissible; it can be dangerous and can lead to serious
damage or accidents.
WARNING! Only ever use original parts and in particular the original bulb must only be replaced with a bulb of the same specification
(H6W)! This is essential for the flasher to work properly and safety. In the event of loss or damage you can obtain spares including the special
bulb in stores or direct from the Kellermann company (tel.: +49 (0)241 938080).
WARNING! For your safety we have selected a powerful halogen bulb for the micro 1000® Halogen. The micro 1000® Halogen may therefore
get hot when operated for extended periods (more than 10 minutes). Contact with bare skin or heat sensitive objects must absolutely be
avoided as it could lead to injury or damage.
WARNING! Incorrect fitting invalidates the vehicle's type approval and insurance and increases the risk of an accident.
CLEANING ADVICE! Your new Kellermann products are premium-quality products. In order to enjoy them long time and maintain the warranty
we recommend not to use any cleansers with alkaline/acid and/or grinding substances or steel wool. We also advice not to use steam cleaners.
The micro 1000® Halogen is E-tested and approved as a rear direction indicator for motorcycles. This is documented by the approval number
12 (E13) 50R 000679 stamped on the flasher lens. That means you may use this flasher in place of the original indicators without having it
entered in the vehicle papers and without technical examination. You do not need to carry any special documentation with you.
ATTENTION! Make sure that your motorcycle is standing firmly before you start work, as a fall may lead to damage to the motorcycle or
injury to you or others.
Dismantle the original indicators and tail / brake lights. Mount the micro 1000® Halogen in place of the original indicators, or drill an 8.5 mm
diameter hole and fasten the micro1000® Halogen at 8 Nm with the self-locking M8 nut supplied. Make sure that the surface under your
micro1000® Halogen where the wires will emerge is protected from splash water. Mount the micro1000® Halogen in such a way that the
beams run horizontally in your bike's direction of travel. Alignment is important to safety in traffic and essential to your bike's roadworthiness,
as a bike with incorrectly aligned lights is easy to overlook on the road.
Make sure that you keep the following gaps in selecting your fastening point:
Refer to the 93/92/EWG guideline available at www.eur-lex.europa.eu for further mounting regulations.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
Separate the wires between the original indicators and the wire connectors from the wire loom at a suitable position. This avoids interfering
with the original wire loom. Find the circuit diagram to the original wires in the wire loom for your bike and connect them to the micro 1000®
Halogen as follows:

• Connect the grey wire on the left-hand (or right-hand) micro 1000® Halogen to the plus pole on the left-hand (or right-hand) indicator.
• Connect the black wire on the left-hand (or right-hand) micro 1000® Halogen to the minus pole on the left-hand (or right-hand) indi-
cator. Crimp connectors and shrink-on tubes are part of the shipment. They will connect the wires of the indicator with the wires of the original
plug. First push one of the shrink-on tubes over one of the cables you want to connect and remove five millimeter of insulation on the end of
each cable. Then push both uncoated ends of the wires into a crimp connector and then crimp it with an appropriate tool. Then pull the shrink-
on tube over the connection and heat it up equally until it fits tight over the complete length.
This type of connection is technically permanent. To create a non-permanent connection, we recommend Posilock wire connectors (not
included), which are available for purchase from our website at
Arrange the wires to protect them from splash water and fasten them as appropriate, such as with wire connectors. Now test the micro 1000®
Halogen lights. This completes the installation.
The flashing frequency can change when converting the original indicators. The installation of a load-independent flasher relay (e.g. R2) or a
multifunctional assistance system (e.g. CR 4®) will solve the problem. If the installation is not possible or not favored, then parallel connected
power resistors (i.LOAD) will be an option. Only a few vehicles need special solutions, which we offer as i.SED, i.BOS products.
We are happy to answer any questions you may have with regards to converting your indicators, we are certain we can help you.
Our team is constantly working on new, improved solutions or all models and vehicles. If you are not sure which electronic accessories you
require, please contact us via

ATTENTION! The application of the described measure may interrupt correct functionality, in the case of a failure causing one of the
indicator lights to increase in flash frequency in order to alert the driver of such a failure. Before each usage of the vehicle, check the
functionality of the indicator lights.
Should the micro 1000® Halogen's bulb fail, do the following: Turn off the engine. Before changing the bulb, ensure the motorcycle is standing
safely as a falling motorcycle could cause injury and damage to the motorcycle.
There is a notch on the domed side of the flasher housing into which you can put a small object such as a needle to get to the snap-in
catch of the flasher lens. Push the catch spring towards the flasher lens with the needle. The lens is unlocked and can be removed. Next,
remove the rubber seal and then the halogen bulb complete with its socket.
Hold the socket firmly and remove the bulb from it by turning it briefly anti-clockwise. Put the new H6W rated bulb into the socket. If possible
do not touch the bulb glass with bare fingers but with a handkerchief as grease or fat on the glass can reduce the bulb's life drastically.
Now use light pressure to push the socket and bulb back into the housing, taking care not to pinch the wire. While pushing the socket in, pull
gently on the wire from outside. Now replace the rubber seal. Take particular care that it is located correctly since incorrect location could lead
to leaking.
Now place the rigid lug of the flasher lens into the notch of the housing. Keep the flasher lens at a slight angle while doing this. Now push the
flasher lens into the main part of the housing until you can feel and hear the holding spring click. Check that the flasher is working properly
and is correctly aligned.
