If it is not possible to make an external air intake
in the room, it is possible to make the external
hole in an adjacent room as long as it perma­
nently connects via passage grille (Fig. 8 - C =
Container, G = Grille, S = Damper).

It is forbidden to take combustion air from ga­
rages, warehouses of combustible material or
places with activities at risk of fire.
If there are other heating appliances in the room,
the combustion air inlets must guarantee the
necessary volume of air for the correct operation
of all devices.
If one or more extraction fans (extractor hoods)
are present and operating in the installation
room, combustion malfunctions may occur due
to lack of combustion air.
Extraction of combustion air from outside
In this case the following is possible as an
alternative:
• channel the combustion air using a coaxial ex­
haust pipe to expel the flue gases and extract
the air (Fig. 9 - A, B = Air inlet, C, D = Flue gas
outlet); as a consequence it is not necessary to
make a classic air intake in the room;
• connect the combustion air inlet of the appliance
to the air intake with a suitable duct (Fig. 10).

5.5 Flue gas fitting

The appliance works with the combustion cham­
ber at negative pressure. It is therefore essential
to make sure that the flue gas evacuation is
airtight (this is the responsibility of the installer).
The appliance must be connected to its own gas
flue, not shared, and which is suitable for ensur­
ing adequate dispersion of the combustion prod­
ucts into the atmosphere, in accordance with the
regulations in force in the country of installation.
