Cave in on oneself / crumple. Collapsing of the exudate pouch is undesirable.
In such cases, it is important to establish whether it has been inserted
correctly in the device or if any leaks can be found. In contrast, collapsing of
the wound dressing indicates that negative pressure has been established in
the wound and that the therapy is functioning as intended.
Contamination is when micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi as well
as viruses colonise a surface, compromising its cleanliness.
Electromagnetic compatibility: The device's capacity not to interfere with
other devices as a result of adverse electrical and/or electromagnetic effects
or to be affected by other devices.
The term exudate refers to all accumulating fluids and particles which can
develop or be present in a wound. The exudate is suctioned out of the wound
with the help of the Suprasorb
exudate pouch.
Haemostasis is the sum of the physical processes which combine to stop
bleeding.
L&R is the abbreviation used in the instructions for use for Lohmann & Rauscher
International GmbH & Co. KG with its headquarters in Rengsdorf, Germany.
Oversuction is when exudate is sucked into the interior of the device.
Reprocessing is required whenever there is a change of patient.
