SETUP
As an alternative to using Velcro tape to fi x the pedal to the pedalboard, the Thruster has two holes in the
overhanging part of the housing. You can use these holes to securely screw the pedal on to your pedal-
board. Despite the good shielding given by the 1,5mm thick steel housing, you should nonetheless avoid
mounting the pedal close to larger transformers that may tend to leak.
Except for the footswitches, all the operating elements are on the rear of the device. Connect the power
adaptor to the low voltage socket labelled "9VDC". The socket is confi gured as "negative inside" (the pin
is the negative and the shaft the positive contact). A red LED in the middle of the device lights up when
a power source is connected.
Be sure to use high quality shielded mono (TS-) instrument cables.
The device can be switched from Bypass to operating mode with the "ON/OFF" footswitch. The symbol
above the footswitch lights up to indicate the ON - Status. As mentioned earlier, the Thruster is a 2 Chan-
nel device, activate the second preset with the footswitch labelled PRESET. The LED above the switch
lights up when the second preset is activated. Each preset is equipped with two knobs. With the BOOST
pot you can adjust the level of amplifi cation. With the rotary switch you can adjust whether the amplifi -
cation is linear (in the position FLAT) or whether only certain frequencies are boosted. The frequencies
increase with the switching position. F1 is in the mid frequencies, F3 in the high frequencies. In order to
achieve a broader selection, the frequencies on Preset 1 and Preset 2 are not identical. However in Preset
2, the frequency also rises with the switching position. Generally speaking, the frequencies of Preset 2
are shifted up a notch compared to Preset 1 (fi nd more details in the technical specifi cations).
As mentioned earlier, the Thruster can be used before the amplifi er or in the effects loop of the amplifi er
(provided your amplifi er has an effects loop). Thanks to the high dynamic range, level problems are not
to be expected. Connect the send of the amplifi ers effects loop to the input of the Thruster. Connect the
Thrusters output to the return of the amplifi ers effects loop. If you are using a parallel effects loop be
sure to adjust the effects level to maximum (usually this setting is called "wet"). Looping is also possible,
should your amplifi er have a Breakpoint Preamp Out – Poweramp In connection. If you want increase
the gain and thus drive the amplifi er into saturation, then it makes sense to connect the Thruster be-
fore the Amplifi er. If you want to maintain the general level of saturation then it makes sense to loop the
Thruster.
