G Operating instructions
RS2W Radio Motion Detector
Item no. 1270202
Intended use
The radio-controlled motion detector can wirelessly switch a suitable receiver of the RS2W radio
system (or a consumer load connected to it) on or off. The operation of the radio motion detector
requires two batteries of the type AAA/Micro. The product is only intended for the installation and
use in dry indoor locations, it must not get damp or wet.
As a special feature the radio motion detector responds back via LED whether the programmed
radio receivers (max. 5) of the RS2W radio system have received the switching commands or not.
Please read the operating instructions carefully and do not discard them. If you pass the product
on to a third party, please hand over these operating instructions as well.
Any use other than that described above will lead to damage to the product and will expose you
to additional risks, such as short circuits, fire, etc. No part of the product may be modified or con-
verted! The safety instructions must be observed at all times!
This product complies with the applicable national and European requirements. All names of com-
panies and products are the trademarks of the respective owners. All rights reserved.

Explanation of symbols, inscriptions
This symbol indicates specific risks associated with handling, operation or use.
The "arrow" symbol indicates special tips and operating information.
Safety instructions
T he guarantee/warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-compli-
ance with these operating instructions. We do not assume any liability for consequen-
tial damage!
W e do not assume any liability for property damage and personal injury caused by
improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases the war-
ranty/guarantee is voided.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for
safety and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• Do not use this product in hospitals or medical institutions. Although the transmitters
of the RS2W radio system only emit relatively weak radio signals, these may lead to
the malfunctioning of life-support systems. The same may also apply to other areas.
• The product must not become damp or wet! It is only suitable for the installation in
dry indoor locations.
• Do not use the product in rooms that are under adverse environmental conditions,
where combustible gases, vapours or dust are or may be present! There is a risk of
explosion!
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since this may become
a dangerous toy for children.
• Handle the product with care; it may be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
falls, even from a low height.
Battery/rechargeable battery instructions
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not let batteries/rechargeable batteries lie around openly. There is a risk of batteries being
swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Replace flat batteries/rechargeable batteries in good time since flat or old batteries/recharge-
able batteries can leak.
• Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries may cause acid burns when coming into
contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects
or surfaces coming into contact with these liquids might be considerably damaged. Thus, store
batteries/rechargeable batteries in a suitable location.
• Normal/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There
is a risk of explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries; there is a risk of explosion!
• Never mix normal batteries with rechargeable batteries.
• Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charges (e.g. flat and half-discharged
batteries).
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay at-
tention to plus/+ and minus/-).
It is possible to operate the radio-controlled motion detector with rechargeable bat-
teries. However, the operating time is reduced by the lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V,
rechargeable battery = 1.2 V).
We therefore recommend to use only high-quality alkaline batteries for the radio mo-
tion detector instead of rechargeable batteries.
Functional description
The PIR sensor integrated in the radio motion detector responds to temperature changes within
the detection range, e.g., if a person or an animal with a temperature different from the background
enters the detection area.
The range for detecting motion is determined by several factors:
• Mounting height of radio motion detector (recommended ap-
prox. 1 - 1.5 m)
• The temperature difference between the moving object and
the background (ambient)
• The size of the object
• The distance of the object from the radio motion detector
• The direction and speed of movement
• Ambient temperature
The detection range can be limited by attaching a non-transpar-
ent cover over the round diffusion disc of the PIR sensor (e.g.,
the plastic cover provided, see picture on the right).
You can use a sliding switch to set the ambient brightness of the
PIR sensor in 4 stages thereby choosing at which ambient
brightness the PIR sensor will be activated and able to detect a
temperature change within the detection range and thus acti-
vate the registered radio receiver.
Another sliding switch is used to set the on-time of the pro-
grammed radio receiver (adjustable in a time range of 6 seconds,
15 seconds, 1 minute and 5 minutes).
Controls
Remove the cover with the PIR window by inserting a flat-
head screwdriver between frame and cover and subse-
quently levering out the cover carefully. Pay attention to
the alignment of the housing parts.

Inserting, replacing the batteries
• First remove the cover as described in section "Controls".
• Insert two batteries of type AAA/Micro into both battery compartments, paying attention to the
correct polarity (see illustration next to the battery compartments).
Before you reassemble the housing, pay attention to the next section "Assembly" and
"Operation".
• Clip the cover back on, paying attention to the correct alignment.
• The batteries need to be replaced if the range of the radio motion detector is significantly re-
duced or it no longer triggers any switching process at the connected radio receiver.
Assembly
Test the functioning of the radio-controlled motion detector and the registered radio
receiver before you securely mount the radio motion detector.
To carry out the assembly correctly, pay attention to the arrow marking inside the hous-
ing; the arrow has to point upwards.
The radio motion detector should be mounted at a height of 1 to 1.5 m. To ensure optimal motion
detection, the radio motion detector must be placed so that the object to be detected does not ap-
proach the motion detector directly but passes from left to right or vice versa.
