Assembly Method 1

Heating Cable without additional cold lead
The following assembly method is recommended by TXI for the product. Other methods may
be applied according to specifications or as advised. The following method describes the
assembly of the product without an additional cold lead using a connection kit.
a.) Process for un-braided cable:
1. Prior to the assembly process determine the desired heating length of the cable. The
heating cable is a zone heater comprising of heating zones with a distance of 500
mm. To prevent from sticking the silicone outer sheath of the cable is covered in talc.
Clean areas to be assembled with a dry towel to remove talc residue before
operation.
2. Indicate the contact point at the dead end of the heating cable (Picture 1). Mark 10
mm and 20 mm beyond the contact point (Picture 2). Cut cable at 20 mm mark. Strip
outer sheath of heating cable using a knife to the 10 mm mark (Picture 3). Remove
remaining coiled wired around the insulated conductor wires and cut directly at
stripped end. Cut one conductor wire by 5 mm (Picture 4).
Use translucent shrinking sleeve provided in connection kit and slide completely over

end of cable. Use hot air gun to shrink to fit (Picture 5). Let cable end cool off and test
proper fit of shrink sleeve (Picture 6
