for the individual hotplates.
1 = lowest heat setting
6 = highest heat setting
The indicator light illuminates when a hotplate is switched
on.

q We recommend that you use saucepans and frying
pans with thick flat bases. Uneven bases increase
cooking times.
q Always use the correct size of saucepan for the amount
of food that you intend to cook. A large pan that is only
partially filled requires a lot of energy.
q Always use saucepans and frying pans with a lid that
fits properly.
q The best transfer of heat is achieved when the base of
the pan is the same size as the hotplate. When you buy
pans, bear in mind that the manufacturer often quotes
the diameter at the top of the pan, which, as a rule, is
bigger than the diameter of the base.
q Switch the hotplate down to a lower heat setting in
good time.
q Make use of the residual heat. In the case of longer
cooking times, you can switch off the hotplate 5 to
10 minutes before the end of the cooking time.
