10. THE TINES

10.1. The tine assembly

The central part of each tine is the tine leg. At the bottom of the leg, the tip, shin, wing and heel
are mounted. At the top, the leg is mounted in a tine clamp that allows adjustment of the working
depth of the whole tine unit. This tine clamp is mounted on a horizontal square shaft that is
referred to as "tine beam". The tine beams can be tilted hydraulically from the tractor cabin, in
order to put the tines in or out of working position.
Machine models up to 3.5 m are equipped with 2 tine beams. Starting from 4 m, all models have
4 tine beams.

10.2. Enabling and disabling the tine section

The MULTIDISC XL VARIO can function in 2
different operation modes:
-
Tines disabled:
The tines are in a horizontal position and will not
be used during work. The machine will function
like a normal disc harrow. Also referred to as
"tines out of working position" and "lifted tines".
-
Tines enabled:
The tines are in a vertical position. Also referred
to as "tines in working position".
Switch between these two modes from the tractor cabin by operating the hydraulic system.
Before switching from tines disabled to tines enabled, ensure that the machine is lifted
sufficiently from the ground. The clearance between machine and ground must be minimum
40cm at all locations before enabling the tines!
Before switching between these two modes, make sure that nobody is near the machine!

10.3. Adjusting the working depth

See chapter 5.4.

10.4. Setting the break-back pressure of the tines
