3. COUPLING THE MACHINE

Before coupling the machine to the tractor, check the weight of the machine on the machine serial
plate, and ensure that coupling the machine will not exceed the following values. See your tractor
manual for more information.
- The maximum allowed tractor axle loads.
- The maximum allowed load on the tires of the tractor.
- The maximum allowed total weight of tractor and machine combined.
All versions of the MULTIDISC XL VARIO have a coupling suitable for a three-point linkage.
The coupling category depends on the model:
- MULTIDISC 250 XL VARIO
- MULTIDISC 300 XL VARIO
- MULTIDISC 350 XL VARIO
- MULTIDISC 400 XL VARIO
It is recommended to always use the heaviest coupling that is provided on the headstock. The
MULTIDISC XL VARIO is a heavy implement. Therefore special care has to be taken regarding
the top link connection with the tractor. Only use high quality top links with an enclosed top link
ball at the machine end. The top link pin, lower link pins and their lynchpins are considered
wearing parts and should be checked for wear regularly. Replace these immediately if wear is
detected. Keep the three-point linkage from tractor and machine in good working condition at all
times.
For models 300, 350 and 400, it is strongly advised to fit an extra heavy top link to the tractor, as
the average top link is not durable enough. Fitting a CAT IV top link is advised, even for the 300
model.
Procedure for mounting the machine behind the tractor:
Apply the tractor's parking brake.

- Level the lifting arms of the tractor.
- Fit the lifting arms to the lower linkage pins of the MULTIDISC.
Connect the top link to the machine's top link pin.

- Secure the linkage arms of the tractor with stabilisation chains or bars to avoid lateral
movement of the machine.
- First, make sure that there is no pressure on the tractor and machine end of the hydraulic
system. Then connect the hydraulic hoses between the tractor and MULTIDISC.
