(For more information, see Chapter " Care and
maintenance".)
Note
Never operate the engine without an air filter, as this will
result in increased engine wear.
7. Check the air filter for dirt and damage. Clean the air
filter depending on the degree of contamination.
8. Unscrew the tank cap.
9. Refill the tank.
Illustration D
Do not exceed the maximum level, i.e., the filter plane.
Note
Please use diesel fuel that matches the specifications of
the environment.
(For more information, see Chapter " Safety instruc-
tions".)
DANGER
If the engine is refilled with gasoline, it may cause a fire
during operation, so be sure to use diesel fuel.
10. Close the tank cap.
11. Check the operational safety of the drive unit of the
engine. The engine must not be started when the
unit is abnormal.

CAUTION
 If the start motor is operated for a long time, the bat-
tery voltage will be decreased and the start motor
may be burn out.
 Before start, when turning the start switch key clock-
wise to "ON" position, the oil alarm lamp will be
turned on. After the engine is started (the start
switch key is placed in "ON" position), the oil alarm
lamp should be turned off; If the oil alarm lamp is al-
ways on, the oil level should be checked.
If the engine does not start in 10 seconds, wait for about
15 seconds and repeat step 3.
Note
In cold weather, the engine can be difficult to start. In
such a case, turn the switch key to the "HEATER" posi-
tion for 10-20 seconds, and then release and repeat
step 3 to start the engine.
Under normal conditions, before starting, turn the start
key to the "ON" position. The oil alarm lamp then turns
on. After the engine is started (the start key is stopped
at ON position), the oil alarm lamp is off. If the oil alarm
lamp remains on, stop and check the oil level.
WARNING
If the start motor keeps running for a long time, the bat-
tery voltage drops, which may cause the start motor to
burn out.
WARNING
When the engine is running, the muffler will be very hot.
Do not touch it!
Do not refuel the engine while it is running.
CAUTION
Do not run the engine when the ambient temperature is
above +40°C or below -10°C.
Operating the engine at high altitudes can cause power
drops, high exhaust temperatures, large running noise
and other exceptions.
