Soldering Iron 12 Volt – 7.5 W / Article No. 58 48 96
Safety Notes:
For the best results keep the soldering tip clean at all times and replace the tips only when cold.
Use the soldering iron only with the recommended voltage of 12 V and do not work on life parts.
Only work in well-ventilated area, flux and solder may emit hazardous fumes during work.
Do not run the power cord over hot surfaces or around sharp corners.
Do not use the unit outdoors.
Allow the soldering iron to cool down before cleaning and storing.
Operation:
Before the first use, the soldering tip must be tinned. Allow some solder to melt on the soldering tip
and let it flow around the tip to form an even film which covers the entire tip.
After work allow some solder to melt on the soldering tip. This protects against corrosion. Excess
solder can be removed on a wet sponge after heating the tip before the next use.
Changing the Tip:
Before changing the tip allow the soldering iron to cool down completely.
Use a screwdriver and pliers or similar devices.
Bend the two tongues (Fig. A – No. 1) apart a little bit and use pliers on the front part of the soldering
tip (Fig. A - No. 2) and pull the tip off in a twisting motion (Fig. A - No. 3).
Bend the tongues of the new tip lightly together (Fig. B - No. 1).
Push the new tip onto the soldering iron (Fig. B - No. 2). Use the pliers to push and twist
(Fig. B – No. 3) until the tip is firmly in place.
To protect the tip use cloth between the tip and the pliers.
To keep the soldering iron in top condition, replace worn or burnt tips immediately. Replacement tips
are available from
under Art. No.: 58 49 12 - tip with pencil point (centre hole 2.4 mm).
