5.2 Barrier nominal (rated) data

These values refer to the maximum voltage, the minimum value of the fitted
resistance and the resulting maximum current.
Maximum voltage U
The maximum voltage does not refer to the working range but to the value
that can be maximally reached in the event of a fault, until the fuse is
triggered. The resistance value is not identical with the maximum longitudinal
resistance. These values only provide an indication of the values that can be
maximally reached in the event of a fault.
Longitudinal resistance
The resistance that can be measured between both ends of a barrier channel.
It is determined by the sum of resistance R and the resistance value of the
fuse at an ambient temperature of 20 °C (68 °F).
Polarity
When connecting, note the specified polarity.
Maximum current in an intrinsically safe electrical circuit (I
The maximum current value which can flow in the intrinsically safe circuit in
the event of a fault occurring.
Maximum input voltage (U
The maximum voltage (of correct polarity), which can be applied between the
contacts inside the safe area and the ground without the fuse being triggered.
This value is determined with an open intrinsically safe power circuit and at an
ambient temperature of 20 °C (68 °F). This means, that the max. bridge
excitation voltage of the amplifier may be up to 10 V on terminal 8 of barrier Z
763. At terminal 5, 0 V should be applied (max. 0.7 V due to the voltage drop
across the lines). At the terminals of Z 764 (filter and signal ) there will then be
