Chain tension inspection (fig. 55.1)
Move the motorcycle to the position where the chain is
tightest.
Rest the motorcycle on its side stand. At the front of the
side chain guard, check the distance between the
swingarm and the middle of the links in the bottom section
of chain. The distance must be between 38 and 42 mm,

as shown on the label on the swingarm. If it is not, adjust
the chain tension accordingly.
Important
Have the chain tensioned at a Ducati Dealer or
Authorized Workshop.
Warning
Correct tightening of the tensioner lock nuts
(1, fig. 55.2) is essential to rider and passenger safety.
Important
Improper chain tension will lead to early wear of
transmission parts.
