dry them. If some fuel is spilt on the machine parts,
dry it. The tank shall never be filled in to the maxi-
mum to avoid fuel leaks.
After sending away bystanders within the machine
working range (B Fig. 6), if any, start the machine
according to the following procedure:
1) Push the lever down (11 Fig. 1/1A), pull the clutch
lever (12 Fig. 1/1A) and lock it with its clamp (15
Fig. 1/1A); put the speeds and the PTO in neutral.
2) Position the accelerator lever (10 Fig. 1) as indi-
cated in the engine assembly manual. Make sure
that the switch for stopping the engine is in the «ON»
position (for those engines provided with it).
3) Bring the machine to a safe area and according
to the type of starting available, do as follows:
4.2.1 ROPE STARTER WITH AUTOMATIC
WINDING
After having carried out the operations listed in par.
4.2:
1) Go to the machine side, take the engine recoil
rope and slowly pull it till you feel its stop. Then,
pull the rope strongly and rapidly.
With the Diesel engines equipped with decompres-
sor, grasp the starting rope and pull it slowly until
you feel some kind of resistance, then actuate the
decompression lever «Alzavalvola» (Valve lifter)
by pushing it down. (lever with a knob placed next
to the injector that will lift automatically once the
engine is started) and pull it firmly and strongly.
The engines are equipped with recoil starter that
allows pulling the rope but that when the engine
starts, it disconnects so to avoid pulls and kicks
back for the operator.
2) Release the rope while it rewinds. In case the en-
gine does not start, repeat the operation.

4.2.2 ELECTRIC STARTER

In case the motor cultivator has the engine with an
electric starter, after following the procedures listed
in paragraph 4.2.
1) Go to area A (Fig. 6).
2) Remove the rubber cap (1 Fig. 10) from the start-
ing key that prevents it from rotating accidentally
and insert it into the ignition switch.
3) Rotate the key clockwise until you hear the first
click; the battery charger (4 Fig. 10) and the en-
gine oil (6 Fig. 10) pilot lights shall be on.
4) Rotate the key further and, as soon as the engine
40
is started, release it; the key goes back automati-
cally to the first click. If at first the engine does
not start, repeat the operation after a few seconds.
The pilot lights mentioned at paragraph 3 shall be off
as soon as the engine is idling, otherwise, contact
the after-sale service.
WARNING
For the two starting systems, if the engine does not
start after some tries, contact the after-sale serv-
ice of the engine assembled on the motor cultiva-
tor.

4.2.3 AFTER STARTING

- After starting the engine, set the accelerator lever
to half stroke and let the engine run for a few min-
utes to warm up.
- During the first working hours, do not use the ma-
chine at its max capacity. Do not exploit the engine
too much.
WARNING
When the engine is cold, actuate the rich mixture
control to facilitate the starting (make reference to
the engine instructions manual).
4.2.4 BEAMS SWITCH
(only machine with electric starter)
The switch for selecting the beams (2 Fig. 10) is on
the dashboard and it has 4 positions:
0) lights off;
1) switching on of the parking lights;
2) switching on of the low beams;
3) switching on of the high beams;
On the dashboard there are also some other pilot
lamps of:
4) battery charge ;
5) switching on of lights;
6) engine oil pressure.
WARNING
While you are working, hold the handlebars firmly
to prevent the motor hoe from slipping from your
hands and always check that no people or animals
are within the operating range of the machine.
