Safety information

Follow the safety guidelines set out below to ensure safe operation of the appli-
ance:
WARNING – RISK OF INJURY!
► Prior to use, check the appliance for visible external damage . Do not operate
an appliance which has been damaged or dropped .
► This appliance may be used by children 8 years of age and older and by
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experi-
ence and knowledge if they have been supervised or instructed in safe use
and understand the resulting hazards .
► Do not allow children to use the appliance as a toy .
► Cleaning and user maintenance tasks may not be carried out by children
unless they are supervised .
► Do not allow children to use the appliance unless they are being supervised .
► All repairs must be carried out by authorised specialist companies or by the
Customer Service department . Improper repairs can pose significant risks
to the user . It will also invalidate any warranty claims .
CAUTION – PROPERTY DAMAGE
► Defective components must always be replaced with genuine replacement
parts . Compliance with safety requirements can only be guaranteed if
original replacement parts are used .
► Do not allow any liquids or moisture to get into the appliance .
► Do not place any objects on the scales when they are not in use .
► Protect the appliance against knocks, dust, chemicals, extremes of tempera-
ture, etc . and keep it away from sources of heat (ovens, radiators) .
► Do not press down on the scales .
► Do not press on the plastic cover of the display .
► Do not expose the appliance to high temperatures .
► Never load the scales with more than 2000 g (4 .4 lb) .
The scales could be irreparably damaged .
