Before installing the system cover in the cable seal,
clean any dirt and contamination from the inside
and check the sealing faces for damage (see fi g.: 3).
The bayonet of the seal packing must not be
damaged!
System cover installation
Using a gentle turning action, insert the connection
of the system cover into the bayonet fi tting of the
sealed wall connection socket. Keep turning
clockwise as far as it will go (the red nut must not
be tightened yet) (see fi g.: 4).
► Correct installation is indicated when the mar-
king arrows on the system cover are aligned
with the arrows on the square frame of the
sealed wall connection socket (see fi g.: 5).
Now tighten the red nut by hand or with the SLS
6G(D) face pin spanner wrench, turning clockwise,
until it is snug against the sealed wall connection
socket (see fi g.: 6).
Heat shrinking technology – shrinking
Before applying the heat shrink sleeve to the
cover sockets, it is recommended for smooth
cable sheaths made of PVC, PE, VPE or EPR/DIN
EN 50393 VDE 0278-393 to roughen the cables
uniformly all around using an emery cloth (P 80
to P 120) over a length of 6-8 cm in the later
shrink area of the heat shrink sleeve and then to
clean the cables using a cable cleaner.
Please note: The cable manufacturers' notes
and instructions for use must be observed when
roughing the cables!
The next step is to push the hot-shrink sleeve onto
the socket and pull in the cleaned cable (see fi g.:
7). Wrap the centring conveyor (supplied with the
HSI90 D1x75 WS system cover) around the cable/
pipe until the centre of the cover socket is reached.
Then push the centring conveyor into the cover
socket until it is fl ush (see fi g.: 8).
Starting at the socket and working toward the
cable, begin the shrinking process (shrinking tem-
perature around 120 - 140° C). Once shrunk to
size, allow the hot-shrink sleeve to cool (see fi g.: 9).
After allowing a short cooling time, proceed to
shrink from the socket end onto the cable (when
doing this, take care not to reheat the already
shrunk part of the sleeve) (see fi g.: 10).
► The shrink-fit process is finished when the
hot-shrink sleeve is tight on the socket
respectively the cable without creases and the
