GENERAL
The LAKE PEOPLE converters F444 / F446 /
F466 consists of one or two A/D and/or D/A
converter modules of highest quality.
A/D converts also include a sync module.
The A/D part converts a stereophonic analog
input signal into a linear (PCM) 24 bit digital
output signal with a dynamic range of 119 dB
and THD+N of –109 dB (@ 48 kHz) and 32 ...
192 kHz sample-rate.
The analog inputs are electronically balanced
and equipped with XLR type connectors. Input
sensitivity may be adjusted by two rotary
faders on the frontpanel.
Input level is displayed by two 8-segment LED
meters with a range of –30 ... 0 dBFs.
The internal sample rate can be switched to
32, 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4 or 192 kHz.
Furthermore AES/EBU, AES-id and WCLK
inputs are provided for external synchro-
nization.
The two digital outputs are designed to trans-
former
balanced
AES/EBU
(XLR) as well as to unbalanced S/P-DIF (AES-
id) standard.
Digital output format can be set to either
consumer or professional format.
The D/A part converts a linear (PCM) digital
signal of up to 24 bit width and a sample-rate
of 32 ... 192 kHz with a dynamic range of 115
dB into an analog stereo output signal.
The two digital inputs are designed to
transformerbalanced AES/EBU specifications
with XLR connector as well as to unbalanced
S/P-DIF (AES-id) standard with Cinch terminal.
They are selectable with a button on the front
panel. LEDs indicate input selection, emphasis
and professional format status.
The analog output terminals are also located
on the rear panel. Signal is available via
electronically

Analog output level can be calibrated by
trimpots and a rotary fader accessible from the
front.

THE CASE
The grounded case is made of 1 - 2 mm thick
stainless steel. This provides high mechanical
stability and resistance against rough handling.
The surfaces of the case are not treated with
any material, so providing excellent electrical
conductances for optimum EMC character-
istics.

THE POWER SUPPLY

Mains is connected via a built-in IEC-CEE
mains socket. The switched power supply
offers a multi-mode input covering the range
from 90 to 260 V AC mains voltage.
The "POWER" switch is situated on the front
panel. Power status is displayed by a LED
located below the power switch.
The power supply generates a stabilized 5 V
DC voltage to feed the digital components.
The balanced voltages nesseccary for the
analog components of the circuits are gene-
rated on the dedicated PCBs.
THE MAINS FUSE
The fuse is internally soldered in place on the
power supply PCB.
ATTENTION !!
FOLLOW THE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:
A blown fuse may refer to internal problems
and should only been replaced during qualified
servicing works !!
POWER-UP
When turned on the unit runs a two-second
boot routine. During this period the inputs and
outputs are muted.
