SUGGESTED PUMP TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDELINES (continued)
2. Leaking after vacuum pulled.
Diagnosis: Umbrella valve contaminated.
Action: Clean pump and replace valve. Properly align and place
umbrella valve stem into center hole of pump body. Pull stem through
hole until knob of valve is completely locked in place.
Diagnosis: Fatigued components in vacuum release assembly.
Action: Replace parts as necessary.
Diagnosis: Contaminated or defective junction O-ring.
Action: Clean pump; replace O-ring.
Diagnosis: Loose screws on junction and/or trigger assembly.
Action: Carefully tighten screws. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
Over tightening may result in stripping of the plastic threads.
We recommend that the pump and gauge calibration be checked
before each use.
3. Damaged/Defective.
Action: Contact a CooperSurgical representative.

GAUGE REPLACEMENT GUIDELINES
NOTE: A 9/16 in. open-end wrench may be used (at the square base
of the gauge) when replacing gauge. Refer to the exploded view of
the pump.
To remove gauge:
1. Support the pump junction.
2. Turn gauge counterclockwise.
3. Clean junction as needed.
To install new gauge:
1. Support the pump junction.
2. Wrap Teflon tape tightly two times around the gauge threads or
apply a thin coating of silicone oil onto gauge threads.
DO NOT APPLY CAULKING.
3. Align and place gauge into pump junction. Turn gauge clockwise,
being careful not to strip junction threads.
4. The gauge should be firmly in place and seated approximately
1/16 in. – 1/8 in. above the pump junction. DO NOT OVER TIGHT
EN. Over tightening may result in stripping of the plastic threads.
5. Test pump performance as described in these directions.
Test gauge for accuracy against an accurately calibrated gauge
(see Vacuum Conversion Chart for equivalents) per ASME
B40.100 standard.
