APPLICATION AREAS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE
A Honeywell filter, in combination with a respiratory connector (full face mask, half mask, respirator, powered filtering device and air
hood) provides a respiratory protective system. Respiratory protective devices filter the breathing air and withhold parts that are harmful
to health (particles, gases, vapours). CO will not be filtered. Particle filters will only filter particles. Gas filters will only filter gases and
vapours.
When both harmful substances are present, a combination filter has to be used. When using a powered respirator according to
EN 12941 or EN 12942 first read and observe the user manuals of the corresponding components.
USE
Operating limitations/conditions
Comply with national guidelines, e.g.:
-
The operating instructions must be read and they must be observed.
-
With very toxic products, it is preferable to use the filter only once.
-
To prevent the risk of hypoxemia, the oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere must not drop below 17% by volume.
-
To prevent the risk of hyperoxemia, the oxygen concentration in the ambient atmosphere must not rise above 21% by volume.
-
The user must undergo a doctor's examination to get the permission to use respiratory protection.
-
Non-aerated containers, excavations, ducts and small areas may not be entered with a filtering device.
-
The user must be familiar with the operation and handling of the device.
-
The type and concentration of hazardous substances must be known.
-
When gases, vapours and particles occur, a combination filter must be used.
-
Particle filters do not protect against poisonous gases and vapours.
-
Gas filters do not protect against particles.
-
The filters must be selected according to the pollutant content.
-
Do not use unsealed or damaged filters.
-
Filters with mass over 300 grams may not be used fitted directly on half mask. These filters bear an icon representing a struck out
half mask.
-
To distinguish the filters from each other, they must be marked with a colour ring, according to their ability to filter certain dangerous
substances.
-
In the case of respirator breakdown leave the danger area immediately.
-
Full face and half masks are not suitable for users with a beard or moustache, which hinder the air tightness on the face. This type
of respiratory protection is also not suitable for any person whose head shape or deep scars cannot guarantee a good seal on the
face to avoid any leakage. The use of air hoods in combination with a blower unit can be considered.
-
Insert filter device only in fresh air areas or ventilated rooms. Do not use filter devices in confined areas, such as small rooms
without sufficient ventilation.
-
Use environment-independent breathing apparatuses if conditions are unknown or fluctuating.
-
Respiratory protective devices must be selected according to the type and concentration of hazardous substances.
-
Change the filter immediately when you smell or taste the substances in the inhaled air.
-
Unsatisfactory warnings regarding the characteristics of dangerous substances require special measures before use.
-
On respirators with several breathing filters, all filters should be exchanged simultaneously during a filter change.
-
Only use approved filters with the air-purifying respirator system.
-
Do not use if there is an explosion hazard!
-
Never use the filters while working with exposed flames or where droplets of liquid metal are likely to form.
-
Only use respiratory protective device with blower switched on.
-
Before using the air-purifying respirator system, check the air flow rate.
-
Temperatures below 10°C can lead to unacceptable wearing conditions.
-
In the event of a risk of oxygen shortage, excessively high concentration of hazardous substances or unknown ratios, insulation
devices operating independently of the environment must be employed.
-
Filters that are used in pairs must be changed at the same time
-
Filters used in pairs may only be used in pairs of identical filters (same type of protection).
Prior to use
The user must read the user's manual and should understand its full content.
Choose the filter according to the hazardous substances, the colour code and the letter code from table 1 and 2.
