Sonde Mode
1. Determine the frequency of your sonde (most Cameras are 512 Hz).
2. Select Sonde operating mode and select your sonde's frequency.
3. Use the Select Key to Toggle to the search View.
4. (Optional) With the sonde turned off, press the Down Key for 3 sec to set the
"Sonde Off" Signal Strength to zero (Zero Set). This can make detection easier
in areas with high electrical interference.
5. Move the NaviTrack in a search pattern of your choice, always moving to "make
the number (signal strength) big." Start by moving slowly and deliberately untill
you get the feel for how it works.
6. When you find the point of maximum signal strength, mark this point with the
yellow, hexogonal sonde marker. You have completed a preliminary locate. To
confirm the locate and for greater accuracy proceed to the next step.
7. Starting at the marker, use the Select Key to Toggle to the Map View.
8. From the marker, move in either direction along the indicated sonde axis (solid
line). Hold the mast vertically and locate and mark the pole with one of the
orange triangular markers. The field angle should read 90 deg.
9. Follow along the sonde axis, over the equator (dotted line), and mark the other
Pole with the other orange triangular marker.
10.Verify the locate. The sonde lies at the intersection of this line and the equator. Measure
the depth at this point. The field angle should read 0 deg. at this point.

Line & Passive (AC) Trace Modes
1. Determine the frequency of your Line Transmitter.
2. Select the NaviTrack Trace operating Mode and select the frequency you plan to use.
3. Use the Select Key to Toggle to the Map View (if needed).
4. (Optional) Zero Set: With the Line Transmitter turned off, press the Down Key for 3 sec to
set the "Transmitter Off" Signal Strength Baseline to 0.0 to make detection easier.
5. Energize the line to be traced. Verify that the indicated signal strength increases
significantly if you are near the transmitter. Place the lower antenna near either the ground
wire (black) or the direct connection (red) wire and confirm you have a steady solid tracing
line on the display. If the Line Transmitter is in inductive mode you should see a very large
signal anywhere near the transmitter.
6. Trace the line.
7. (Optional) 1000 Set: Centered over the line, with a strong signal present, press the Up Key
for 3 sec to set the Signal Strength and Current Level reading both to a "normalized" value
of 1000.
When the Lower Antenna Signal (solid line) is centered on the Map View, you are above the
energized line. If the Upper Antenna Signal (dotted line) is significantly aligned with Lower
Antenna Signal the field is undistorted.
