The volume adjustment knob

Turning the volume adjustment knob clockwise, will increase the volume to be dispensed. Each full revo-
lution of the knob represents 2ml.
For fine volume adjustments, turn the knob a quarter turn in either direction for 0.5ml adjustment.

User Calibration procedure

Your Zippette Digital has been calibrated to it's nominal volume of 30ml. However, due to changes in envi-
ronmental conditions and the variability in the viscosity of the media which you dispense, a recalibration
might be required. You can either recalibrate at regular intervals such as once a week or whenever you
notice that the dispensed volume is different from the volume displayed by the unit.
To fully recalibrate your Zippette Digital follow the following steps:
1. Set the Zippette Digital to the nominal volume of 30ml or any other
volume which is the most common volume you dispense.
2. Follow the common rules for calibration used in statistical quality con-
trol (ISO DIS 8655/2). Dispense five full volumes of distilled water at
20°C to establish the actual mean volume of liquid dispensed. The
attached formula will help you to follow common rules. If the gravita-
tional average result varies from the volume displayed, you should
recalibrate the Zippette.
3. Press and hold the 'CAL' and 'UP' buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds in
order to enter the calibration mode of the instrument. Immediately when
you are in the calibration mode, the word CAL flashes on the display.
4. With the word CAL flashing on the display, lower the piston to its lowest
stop position. Where your Zippette is equipped with a spring, hold the
piston at its lowest position and turn the volume adjustment knob gen-
tly anti clockwise to a position which does not allow any axial move-
ment of the piston. DO NOT USE FORCE! This is your '0' position.
5. Press the 'CAL' button again –
the display defaults to a flashing 0.0.
6. From this '0' position with the display still flashing the 0.0 volume, turn
the volume adjustment knob to display the nominal volume which was
used to establish the actual volume.
7. Once the unit displays the nominal volume, press 'CAL'. The display stops
flashing. Using the up/down arrows, correlate the volume on the display to
the actual volume, which was established in the gravitational procedure.
8. Press the 'CAL' button. The display shows the word 'end' to indicate
that you have sucessfully completed the calibration procedure.
If you wish to terminate the calibration procedure prematurely, press the
'On' button at any stage. The display will show 'Esc' for two seconds to
indicate that you escaped the calibration procedure and the display will
revert to show the volume the Zippette is ready to dispense.
