Step 2: Review additional hardware
Optional hardware
There are four PCIe slots for the addition of
StoreOnce 10GbE Network Cards and/or
StoreOnce Fibre Channel cards. These additional
PCIe cards, if ordered, may be pre-installed or
supplied in separate boxes.
Refer to the HPE StoreOnce 10 GbE Network Card
and Fibre Channel Card Installation and
Configuration Guide for more details. Fit the correct
SFP+ transceivers, if required.

Additional storage
The minimum configuration includes a disk
enclosure that contains 15 x 4 TB drives; 11
pre-configured as storage and 4 hot spare
disks.This disk enclosure is attached to the first
RAID controller card (in slot 2) and the storage is
fully licensed at installation and ready for use.
There are two options for expanding storage:
BB941A: HPE StoreOnce 5500 System
Capacity Upgrade Disk Pack: a pack of
eleven 4TB disks. A maximum of five of these
kits may be added to the disk enclosure.
BB946A: HPE StoreOnce 5500 System
Capacity Upgrade Enclosure with Disks:
Once all bays in the disk enclosure are full, it
is possible to connect three further Capacity
Upgrade Enclosures to your system. Storage
in these enclosures may also be expanded
using up to five of the BB941A expansion kits.

correctly. Take particular note of the safety

drives installed weighs 72.58 kg (160.00 lb).
With all drives and components installed, the
enclosure can weigh over 145 kg (320 lb).
