1.0 Guillotine for Jøtul I 600
The product is delivered in 1 package. The weights are packed
in the box.
Warning! The steel plates can have sharp edges - use gloves.
1.1 Preparation
1. Lift the door off.
2. Unscrew and remove the hinges on the insert. (fig. 1)
3. Unscrew the door catch (fig. 2 A). This shall be rotated 180
and attached to the guillotine (fig. 2 B)
4. Remove the baffle and burnplates. (see point. 4.7-Mounting
in the main manual)
5. Unscrew the 4 bolts from the inside of the insert's sides and
remove the brackets.(see fig. 3 A-B)
6. Unscrew the lower bracket (se fig. 4A). (This shall be used for
the installation of the damper mechanism.)
7. Unscrew the long arm for the damper mechanism as shown
in fig. 5 - point A-B. The whole mechanism shall be mounted
on the guillotine afterwards. (If the guillotine is of a previous
model, the hole in point B has to be drilled, and enlarged to
Ø 6 mm).
1.2 Mounting the guillotine
1. Lift the guillotine up and feed it onto the product from above
(in front of the crank arm). Slide it far enough forward that
the pop nuts can be seen from the inside and attach it using
the same four bolts on both sides.
Unscrew the screws in the cover's upper edge (fig.6 A).

3. Pull away the cover at the top edge (fig 6 B) and remove it by
lifting it up and out.
Hang the weights on the wire (fig. 7).

5. NB: note that the lifting frame slides up only after the first
weight has been hung.
NB. Check the sealing pressure against the door before the damper
mechanism is mounted.
1.3 Mounting the damper mechanism
1. Close the door
2. Attach the bracket on the guillotine's right side as shown in
figure 4B.
3. Fasten the damper mechanism on the guillotine . Se fig. 5. (If
the guillotine is of a previous model, the hole in point B has
to be drilled, and enlarged to Ø 6 mm).
4. See that the damper rod holds the same parts as shown in
fig. 5.
5. Thread the bar through the slot in the bracket. (The large
distance washer is only to avoid the nut sticking in the brackets
slot.)
6. Make sure that the groove (D) in the handle, meets the locking
pin (E) on the door. (See fine adjustments of the damper)
7. Look at fig. 8 - and check that the nut on both sides are well
fastened.
8. Re-attach the cover.
Fine adjustments of the damper

Adjust the inner nut (4-F) that the crank arm is as shown in
pos. H.
•
Put on the M6 flange nut (4-G) and fix it.
•
Make sure that the damper handle slides easily, and that the
damper is open when the handle is pulled out (I).

2.0 Function testing -
adjustment
Function testing - adjustment of the guillotine must be done
prior to the insert being installed in a surround.
2.1 Sealing pressure against the door

If the door is very hard in the lower position, the sealing
pressure should be reduced (e.g. the guillotine should be moved
forward).
If there is a space between the door and the front, the pressure
should be increased (e.g. the guillotine should be moved back).
Adjustment
• Loosen the 4 bolts (fig. 3 A) in the burn chamber, and adjust
the guillotine's position by sliding it forwards or backwards
in the slide grooves (3 B).
• Re-attach the bolts.
2.2 If the door closes unevenly
If the guillotine does not close evenly on both sides, it is possible
to adjust its position.
Adjustment
• Loosen the nut (fig. 8) on the side that does not close.
• Pull up the fork and place a washer in between (fig. 9).
• Put the fork in place (fig. 10) and re-attach using the nut.
2.3 If the door hangs too low/too
high
If the door hangs a little low/is too high, this can be adjusted.
Adjustment
• Lift the door off
• Loosen the upper hinge if the door hangs too low (fig 11)
• Loosen the lower hinge if the door is too high (fig. 11)
• Put in a shim (fig. 11A) between the hinge and flat iron so that
the hinge is further out.
• Re-attach the bolts.
• If the whole door is too far to the right, place a shim between
the hinge and flat iron on both hinges.
