Symptoms
The Network indicator
displays red.
The Active and Network
indicators are flashing every
0.5 seconds.
Your AXIS 2420 works
locally, but not externally.
No image using Refresh
and/or
Slow updating of
images.
Cannot access the connected
modem.
A series of broad vertical
white lines appears across
the image.
Bad focus.
Noisy images.
Possible causes
Faulty cabling.
Hardware failure.
Firewall protection.
Default routers required.
The Internet site is too
heavily loaded.
Multiple clients attempting
to access the images, or
complex images, i.e.
containing a lot of contrast.
Faulty cabling.
The CCD sensor becomes
overloaded when the light is
too bright. This can happen
e.g. with sunlight reflections.
The focus has not been
correctly adjusted.
No adaptor fitted with your
C-type lens.
Images may be noisy if you
are using the AXIS 2420 in
an environment with very
low lighting.
Remedial actions
1. To verify that the cable is functional, connect the cable to a
known functioning device on the network and PING it from your
workstation.
2. If the cabling is OK and your network is reachable, you should
receive a reply similar to this:
Reply from <IP address>: bytes = 32; time
= 10 ms.....
Contact your Axis dealer.
Check the Internet firewall with your network administrator.
Check if you need to configure the default router settings.
Configure the AXIS 2420 to upload your video images to an FTP
server or an ISP.
Try limiting the number of clients, or configure the AXIS 2420 to
upload your video images to an FTP server or an ISP. Adjust the
image settings to produce smaller files.
Check power supply, power cable and serial connection.
If you are using the camera in strong light conditions, check that
you are using a DC-Iris lens, and that the settings for the lens are
correct, i.e. in the Image-Advanced settings, the exposure control
should be set to DC-Iris.
Note: damage caused to the AXIS 2420 through overexposure to
direct sunlight or halogen light is not covered under the product
warranty.
Referring to the on-line help, adjust the White Balance setting and
then try resetting the camera focus again using the Focus
Assistant, as described in Lenses and Advanced Focusing, on page
54.
Fit the required adaptor. See page 54.
To solve this problem, you need more light. The performance of the
camera is best in 100 - 3.000 lux. Consider using a more sensitive
lens (Lower F-number) if the lighting conditions within the
installation area cannot be improved.
