Switch on/off
1. Connect the AC cord to the AC socket and to the wall socket. The set is now ready to use.
2. To switch off the set completely, pull the AC cord from the wall socket.
Note: The unit will automatically turn off after the standby mode stays for 15 minutes. If
you connect the po- wer to the unit during this period you need to wait for 15 seconds so
that the unit can be connected to the power.
Radio operations
1. Turn the volume knob clockwise to turn on the set. The power indicator will light up.
2. Slide the band knob to FM or AM position.
3. When the radio is fine tuned, the green light will light up.
4. Adjust the antenna for better reception.
FM: Pull out the telescopic antenna and adjust its length and angle for optimum reception.
AM: The antenna is placed inside the set. For optimum reception place the set in the
direction that gives the best reception.
5. To turn off the radio, turn the volume anticlockwise till a "click" is heard.
Headphones
Connect your headphones with a 3.5mm-plug cable to the earphone jack.
NOTE: Since hearing damage from loud noise is often undetectable until it is too late.
Start your volume control at a low setting and slowly increase the sound until you can
hear it com- fortably and clearly and without distortion. Take a minute to do this will help
prevent hearing damage or loss in the future.
Important Hints on Use
• If the set is not used for a long period of time, remove all the batteries to prevent poten-
tial da- mage due to possible battery leakage.
• Do not subject the set to temperatures over 60°C (140°F) because characteristics of the
internal parts may be adversely affected by heat. Never leave the set in a car exposed to
direct sunlight for a long period of time with the doors and windows closed. The cabinet
may become deformed and deterioration of the performance may result.
• Since a strong magnet is used for the speaker, keep magnetized commuter passes, ti-
ckets or personal credit cards, recorded tapes, watches etc. away from the radio. The
speaker magnet in the radio may damage them.
• Do not place the set near strong magnets such as those used in radio, television sets,
speaker boxes etc. as these may cause the frequency to drift.
