Excessive condensation can occur if, for example, the switch
cabinet is not sealed or if the internal temperature of the switch
cabinet is frequently below the dew point.
CAUTION:
If there is excessive condensate during normal operation
check the sealings of the switch cabinet.
We recommend that you install a door contact switch to
switch off the cooling unit, when the door of the switch
cabinet is opened, in order to prevent excessive
condensate.

Installation

8.1

General

The installation place for the switch cabinet must be selected
such that proper ventilation of the cooling unit is ensured.
The single units or the units and the wall must be at a distance
of 200 mm at least.
Air circulation in the switch cabinet must not be impeded by
built-in parts.
The unit cover needs not be removed for installation of the
cooling unit.
The site of installation must be protected against contamination.
CAUTION: Chips may damage the switch cabinet.
If the required cutouts are only made in the switch cabinet
just before mounting of the cooling unit, make sure that
swarf is not allowed to enter the device hood by using a
cover sheet, for example.
8.2

Installation of side-mounted, bolt-on cooling unit DTS

The mounting surface of the switch cabinet is to be provided with
cutout(s) and holes for air ventilation openings and for securing
the unit according to the accompanying sheet.
1) Make cutout(s) and drillings for the cooling unit, if not already
provided in the switch cabinet.
Remove burrs from the cut edges
2) Place sealing strips along the cutouts of the switch cabinet
(see supplement) or place profile strip into the cutouts. The
strip doubles as edge protection.
Arrange the sealing strips so that the butt joints are located at
the bottom.
3) Screw the two threaded studs included in the component pack
into the upper fixing point of the cooling unit. Suspend the unit
from outside onto the switch cabinet using the threaded studs.
CAUTION:
Pay attention to the label "thread reach for setscrew". If
the thread reach is exceeded parts in the cooling unit may
be damaged.
4) Thread power and control cables through the air inlet opening
into the switch cabinet.
5) Attach the cooling unit to the switch cabinet by using the stud
bolts.
6) Use the screws, nuts and washers included in the component
pack to secure the cooling unit on the inner side of the switch
cabinet. Tighten up fixings so that the seal is compressed to a
thickness of 2 mm.
7) Install the condensate drainage hose which must be inclined
12
downward!
8) Connect cable to the unit in accordance with the connection
diagram (see back of unit).
Unit with terminals:
- conductor size: 0,5 – 2,5mm² or AWG20 - AWG14 (In the
selection of cable size, the relevant regulations must be
observed!)
9) Connect the unit to the electrical supply (see Section 8.5).
8.3
Built-in Reservoir (optional, only for side panel
cooling unit)
1) Place the drilling template supplied onto the outer fastening
surface of the switch cabinet.
2) Drill the holes, and cut out the opening.
3) Place the mounting frame in the cutout and fasten it using the
washers and nuts supplied.
4) Fasten the cooling unit in the built-in reservoir, see installation
instructions on side panel cooling unit (see section 8.2).
8.4

Installation of top panel cooling unit DTD

CAUTION: Danger due to improper condensate
drainage.
Install the top panel cooling unit either horizontally or such
that the condensate drainage is not situated at the bottom.
The condensate drainage hose must be inclined down-
ward without showing a bend. The max. length is 2 m.
The end of the hose must not dip into water. A return flow
must be prevented; vent the hose, if necessary.
Regularly check during operation whether condensate is
properly drained.
1) Place the supplied drilling template onto the top panel of the
switch cabinet.
2) Drill holes to suit the unit and cut out ventilation openings.
3) Either glue the self-adhesive surface sealing to the switch
cabinet or place the profile sealing strip into the openings. The
strip doubles as edge protection.
Hint:
If necessary, reinforce the installation area at the switch cabinet to
achieve proper sealing between cooling unit and switch cabinet.
4) Place the cooling unit onto the top panel of the switch cabinet
and adjust it to suit the openings; thread power and control
cables through the air inlet opening into the switch cabinet.
Hint:
The cooling unit can be lifted using a lifting device (e.g. crane). For
this purpose, screw in two (in case of DTD 5501 four) lifting eyes
after having removed the cover provided at the top.
5) Fasten the cooling unit from the inside of the switch cabinet
using the supplied hexagon head screws M6.
