3 Applications
The high-resolution B/W camera TVCCD-480 is de-
signed for the use in video surveillance systems. The
special feature of this camera is its very high sensitivity.
It is provided with an automatic backlight compensation
as well as an automatic gain control (AGC) for which
two different control ranges can be determined (low:
5 – 32 dB, high: 5 – 50 dB).
Lenses with automatic iris control (video signal con-
trolled or DC voltage controlled lenses) as well as lenses
with manual iris adjustment can be used. For the use of
lenses with manual iris adjustment the camera is equipp-
ed with an automatic electronic shutter (switchable).
4 Lens
Attention! Protect the CCD image sensor chip and
the lenses of the lens assembly against dust and
impurities, and do not touch them with your fingers in
any case.
It is possible to use a lens with automatic iris control [a
video signal controlled lens ("video iris" lens) or a DC
controlled lens ("DC iris" lens)] as well as a lens with
manual iris adjustment.
1) Remove the protection cover (1).
2) When using a C mount lens, screw it on the C mount
adapter ring (2).
When using a CS mount lens, remove the adapter
ring (2) and screw the lens directly on the camera.
3) In case of a video signal controlled lens:
connect the cable of the lens to the screw terminal
strip "VIDEO IRIS" (8):
terminal "+9V": operating voltage 9 V
terminal "SIG": video signal 1 Vpp
terminal "GND": ground
In case of a DC voltage controlled lens:
for the connection of the lens to the 4-pole jack "DC
IRIS" (5) the camera is supplied with a matching
plug. The jack has the following pin configuration
(see fig. 3):
pin 1: control -
pin 2: control +
pin 3: drive +
pin 4: drive -
Solder the connection cable of the lens according to
the pin configuration of the jack to the plug, and
connect the plug to the jack.
5 Mounting
The camera can be mounted on a camera stand, on a
pan/tilt head (e. g. MONACOR VPT-69) or onto a cam-
era support (e. g. a support of the MONACOR TVH
series). For fixing, the camera is provided with an a-
dapter (4) with a thread jack [thread 6.3 mm (
bottom side. The adapter can alternatively be screwed
