MSS DP Interface Module
Operating Instructions

operating, or maintaining the equipment.

Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with

Taking the ambient conditions into consideration the devices must be
mounted into control cabinets with degree of protection IP32, IP43 and IP54.

Areas of Application
The DP interface represents an expansion device for MSS basic devices. It
allows communication of MSS basic devices with memory-programmable logic
controllers via PROFIBUS DP. The DP interface is not fail-safe, i.e. the
DP interface only transmits the information with the same reliability which can
also be achieved with other PROFIBUS components. Transfer is, therefore,
"unsafe".

Configuration
The device master data file is used to connect the DP interface as DP slave in
the engineering tool for the PROFIBUS master.
The DP interface is configured in the MSS system using the engineering tool
"Modular Safety System ES".
Matching configurations must be carried out in both engineering tools.
