1 Introduction
The Sandberg USB 2.0 to Hard Disk Link (referred
to as the "box" in the following) enables you to
use a 2.5'' IDE hard disk as a removable medium.
If, for example, you have an old internal hard
disk from a laptop, you can quickly convert it to
a stylish external hard disk. The solid aluminium
case and its compact size make it very portable.
2 Fitting a 2.5'' hard disk
1. Remove the end of the box where the USB
and power sockets are located. To do this,
unscrew the two screws in the side.
2. Connect a 2.5'' IDE hard disk to the socket on
the small circuit board from the end of the
box you removed. Position the hard disk so
that its width matches that of the circuit board.
3. Refit the end with the connected hard disk
inside the box. Fit the two screws in the side
again.
NB: The disk you connect must be
formatted/partitioned before it can be recognised
by Windows. For more information, see the
documentation accompanying the hard disk or
on the manufacturer's website.
3 Installation in Windows
1. Start Windows.
2. Connect the box (see the section "Connecting
the box").
3. Windows will install the drivers for the box
automatically.
The box is now installed and ready for use.

4 Connecting the box
1. Connect the small plug on the supplied USB
cable to the box.
2. Connect the other end of the supplied USB
cable to the computer's USB port.
3. Connect one of the supplied power adapter
cables to the box. This cable should be
connected to the computer's PS/2 port or USB
port.
4. Set the switch on the box to "EXT" (external
power).
NB: In some cases you can use the box without
an external power supply. In that case you do
not need to use the supplied power adapter
cables. The switch should then be set to "INT"
(internal power).
5 Using the box
When you connect the box, a new drive is created
on your computer. You can use this drive in the
same way as any other drive on your computer.
