Basic operation

While in shooting mode, use these buttons for quick access to some of the more
commonly used features.

1 #UP button (Flash pop-up)
Opens the flash. Press this button to take a picture with flash.
2 u button (Monitor/Viewfinder)
Toggles between the monitor and viewfinder.
3 AEL AFL button (AE lock, AF lock)
Assign the AE lock and AF lock functions to AEL AFL. You can set the
functions when AEL AFL is pressed in shooting mode.
4 F button (Exposure compensation)
Use this setting to overexpose (+) or underexpose (–) a picture.
5 j button (Drive)
Press j in shooting mode to select the drive mode. You can take a
sequence of pictures at one time by holding down the shutter button.
6 AF/MF switch
Slide the AF/MF switch in shooting mode to set the focus mode.
7 q button
Quickly displays the last image taken.
8 f button
Press f in shooting mode to turn on or off Shadow Adjustment Technology.
This function makes the face of the subject appear brighter even against
backlight.
9 m button (MENU)
Displays the top menu.
0 DISP./E button
Displays the composition guide lines and histogram. With menu items
selected, hold down this button to display the menu guide.
a 4& button (Macro mode)
Use macro or super macro mode when taking close-up pictures such as of a flower.
b 1 z button (Custom)
Register a frequently used function to 1 z. You can set the settings directly
with 1 z instead of displaying the screen from the menu.
