7. Antenna tuning

At least, two base antennas are necessary to follow the valid radio regulations with a output power
greater than 1 W. That´s the reason, why we use this standard configuration for this description.

Before tuning the base or complementary antenna you must firmly mount the antennas and an-
tenna cable. The ID ISC.ANT.T-A Transformer and ID ISC.ANT.PS-A Power Splitter are attached
only after tuning the antennas.
To calibrate the antenna you must remove the cover over the antenna opening. The recommended
tightening torque of the cover screws when recovering the antenna 0.2 Nm – 0.25 Nm.
Next, connect the first base antenna directly to the Reader connector X2. Terminate the second
antenna using a 50 Ω termination resistor.

Until the tuning procedure is completed, an SWR should be installed between the Reader and the
base antennas.
Begin the tuning procedure with the first base antenna. Next tune the second base antenna. Since
the two neighboring base antennas affect each other mutually, the first base antenna must then be
retuned.
