It has been designed and manufactured to provide you with many years
of reliable service.
The Pindex System is designed to assist in fabricating accurate mod-
els and dies for use in the fabrication of dental restorations.
The Pindex System is used to accurately drill parallel holes into the
underside of the model. Precision Pindex Pins may then be cement-
ed into the parallel holes. Pins are selected based on space avail-
able.
Precision pinning of dies and sections of the master model allows the
technician to disassemble and reassemble the model repeatedly and
accurately to facilitate the fabrication of restorations.
This owner's guide will provide step-by-step instructions for the pro-
duction of accurate models and dies.
I. Pre-drilling instructions
1. Master model is poured in stone or epoxy (Fig. 1).
2. Model base is trimmed perfectly flat on model trimmer
(Fig. 2), so that the model thickness from base to preparation
margins is approximately 15 mm (Fig. 3).
3. Sections and dies are pre-planned and pin locations are
marked with a pencil on tooth side of model (Fig. 4) prior to
drilling holes (Fig. 5).
4. When two pins are in close proximity, it is important to allow suf-
ficient space for the placement of the sleeves (Fig. 6). If this is not
possible, a dual pin or Tri-Plus pin should be used (Fig. 7).
5. Each die or section must have either two pins or a dual pin
(Fig. 13).
This product has been manufactured with an IEC 320 power
cord inlet connector using a detachable cordset (line cord) to
plug in at the rear of the unit. Please be sure to plug in the
cordset into the inlet connector before the next step (Fig. 45).
II. Drilling pin holes
1. For best results use a slightly moist model.
2. The power cord must be plugged into a properly grounded
outlet. The power switch is located in the rear alongside the
IEC 320 power cord inlet connector. The "on" position is
designated with an "I". The "off" position is designated with
an "O" (Fig. 46). Turn switch on; red pilot light will
glow brightly.
3. Place model on work surface and align pencil marks with the
illuminated dot (Fig. 5).
Firmly hold the model with both thumbs and grasp the large black
ring with the remaining fingers. Slowly squeeze with even pressure,
allowing entire work table housing to slide downward until the end
stop is reached (the light will automatically switch off). Sequentially
drill all holes to full depth. Do not force; advance slowly and let the
drill do the cutting.
4. After all holes have been drilled, each hole which is to receive
a dual pin or Tri-Plus is notched lingually with a thin separating
disc (Fig. 8, 9 and 10).
5. The model and holes are thoroughly cleaned of debris with
compressed air.
