4 Transporting / Setting Up
For transporting, the speaker system is provided
with a telescopic handle . To extract / retract the
handle, press the unlock button on the handle .
Place the speaker system as desired or mount
it onto a stand via the stand sleeve on its lower
side . For operation, it will not be necessary to re-
move the speaker system from the transport bag
provided . When the zip fastener is opened and
the front part of the bag is folded up, all connec-
tions and operating elements will be accessible .
5 Power Supply /
Recharging the Battery
Power is supplied via the integrated battery to be
recharged with the internal charger . For charging,
it will not be necessary to switch on the speaker
system; however, it is possible to operate it during
charging .
Please observe the following notes to prevent dam-
age to the battery by deep discharge and to avoid a
reduction of its life:
– Always fully recharge the battery prior to initial
operation and after longer storage .
– If the red LED "< 25 %" (13) lights up, the battery
is almost discharged and should be recharged as
soon as possible .
– Fully recharge the battery prior to longer storage
and at least every 2 months during storage .
For charging, connect the mains cable provided to
the mains jack (14) first, then connect the mains
plug of the cable to a socket (230 V/ 50 Hz) . The
LED CHARGE (12) will show red during charg-
ing . The charge status of the battery will be in-
dicated by one of the three LEDs below it (13):
red LED (low charge level)  yellow LED  green
LED (high charge level) .
When the battery has been charged, the LED
CHARGE (12) will light up in green .
Do not permanently leave the unit connected
to the mains: When the battery has been fully
charged and the unit is not operated, discon-
nect the mains plug from the socket to prevent
damage to the battery by overcharge .

6 Audio Connections

6.1 Audio sources
The system will allow connection of two audio
sources: one to the input jack (1) for channel 1
and one to the input jack (6) for channel 2 .
– Connect microphones via XLR plugs .
– Connect audio units with line signal level (e . g .
mixer, CD / MP3 player, tuner, tape deck) via
6 .3 mm plugs . For stereo units, use a stereo-to-
mono adapter; otherwise only the left channel
will be reproduced .
Note: If a wireless microphone is used, it will reserve
channel 1; if an audio source is connected to channel 1,
the signal of the wireless microphone will be added to
the input signal of channel 1 .
6.2 Connecting active speaker systems
If two active speakers systems TXA-900DCD are
required for PA application, they can be intercon-
nected via the INSERT jacks (8):
At the output MIX OUT, the mixed signal of
the speaker system will be routed out . Connect
the output MIX OUT of the first speaker system
(master) via a cable with 6 .3 mm plugs to the
input POW IN of the second speaker system
(slave) . Thus, the second speaker system will be
switched to reproduce the input signal of the
jack POW IN . In this case, the volume controls
and tone controls of the second speaker system
will have no function .
Note: It will not be possible to connect several slave
systems in a chain via the jacks MIX OUT and POW IN in
order to feed them the output signal of a master system .
Reason: At the jack MIX OUT of the slave system, its own
mixed signal will be routed out, not the mixed signal of
the master system fed to the input POW IN .
Hint: To connect more than two TXA-900DCD systems
in a chain, always connect the jack MIX OUT to a
channel input jack of the next system .

7 Operation

CAUTION Never adjust the active speaker
system to a very high volume .
Permanent high volumes may
damage your hearing!
Your ear will get accustomed to high volumes
which do not seem to be that high any more
after some time . Therefore, do not further in-
crease a high volume after getting used to it .
1) Prior to switching on the speaker system, set
all VOLUME controls (3, 7, F) to the left stop to
minimum to prevent switching noise .
2) Switch on the speaker system with the switch
AMP ON (9) . The yellow power LED AMP ON
(10) will light up . If the red LED "< 25 %"
(13) lights up, the battery should be recharged
 chapter 5 .
3) Switch on the audio sources used: micro-
phones or audio units connected, wireless
microphone, integrated CD / MP3 player [via
the button CD ON (G)] .
If a wireless microphone is used, the red
LED RF (2) will light up after it is switched on
to indicate reception of a radio signal . If not,
check if
a) the wireless microphone operates on the
correct frequency (863 .05 MHz) .
b) the battery of the wireless microphone is
charged sufficiently .
c) the distance between the speaker system
and the wireless microphone is too far .
4) Use the corresponding volume controls to mix
the signals of the audio sources or to fade in
and out single sources as required:
– VOLUME control (3) for the wireless micro-
phone or the audio source connected to
channel 1 (or for their mixed signal when
both are used at the same time)
– VOLUME control (7) for the audio source
connected to channel 2
– VOLUME control (F) for the integrated
CD / MP3 player
(operation of the player: see chapter 3.1)
5) Adjust an optimum sound for both input chan-
nels with the controls LOW, MID and HIGH (4) .
6) When the button BASS BOOST (5) is pressed,
the bass range for the output signal of the
speaker system will be boosted . If the function
is activated, the LED next to the button will
light up . To deactivate the function, disengage
the button .

7) The microphone priority feature will be acti-
vated with the button CD MUTE (E) . When the
button is pressed (LED above it will light up),
the volume level of the integrated CD / MP3
player will be substantially reduced when
announcements are made via a microphone
connected or via a wireless microphone . To
deactivate the feature, disengage the button .
8) The red LED LIMITER (11) will light up when
the limiter circuit for level limiting responds . If
it lights up frequently, the input level for the
amplifier is too high and should be reduced
with the volume control of the corresponding
audio source .
9) After operation, switch off the speaker system
with the switch AMP ON (9) .
