Turning off

1. Close main valve.
3. Fit covers and cover the holes
on the nuts for 3 – 4 seconds.
Then slowly let go. Air should
be sucked in; only in this way
can you be sure that the fire­
hydrant is emptied and no
frost damage can occur in
winter.
If drainage does not occur, the water supply operator is to be
informed immediately.
2. Open side valves (1 turn).
4. Close the protective cover in
counter clockwise direction
(corresponding to the arrows
on the cover).
To protect it from false operation, the
Classic hydrants are fitted with a spindle
extension which rises under pressure. If
the fire-hydrant is operated wrongly the
protective cover cannot be closed. The
correct procedure when turning off is
to be observed (see also information on
label).
