1 Duty of care of operator
This state-of-the-art hose reel provides maximum safety. No
alterations must be made to the device. During operation,
this level of safety can only be achieved in practice if all the
necessary measures are taken. The operator has a duty
of care to plan such measures and to verify that they have
been taken.
In particular, the operator
must ensure that:
• the product must only be used for
approved media (air and water).
• the ATEX classification is adequate
for the intended application and that all
attached components are also suitable for
the ATEX classification.
• the device will only be used mechanically
and electrically in accordance with the
instructions.
• all necessary personal protective
equipment is available for operating, mainte-
nance and repair staff.
• the operating staff are adequately informed
and trained in handling and repair, especially
with regard to conduct in ATEX zones.
• dust deposits and caked layers are removed
regularly or according to operational
requirements (see Commissioning, Service
and Maintenance), taking care not to stir up
the dust.
When accessories are attached to
hose reel Series 886 Ex, they must be
suitable for use in ATEX zones
1, 2, 21 och 22 (e.g. electrical conductivity).
No spark-generating tools must
be used.
Repairs must only be carried out by skilled
technicians, using original replacement
parts.
2 Additional warnings
When liquids are sprayed, they may form electrically
charged mists regardless of their conductivity.
In potentially explosive areas, the general explosion
protection measures must be applied.
In addition to the instructions in the operating
manual, the following additional safety instructions
must be observed in ATEX zones 1, 2, 21 and 22:
• BGR 132 (ZH 1/200:1989), DIN 292-1, DIN 292-2
• DIN EN 1127-1:1997
• DIN EN 13463-1:1999
• DIN EN 13463-5:2001
• ATEX Directive 2014/34/EC Annexe II
• Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Earthing measures must be taken at the place of
installation, and must be verified before any
commissioning and at regular intervals.
HOSE REEL 886 EX
Hose reel Series 886 Ex must not be used
in ATEX zones 0, 20. In addition, it must
not be used in areas in which there is an
identified risk of electromagnetic waves,
ionising radiation or ultrasound (see EN
1127-1, sections 5.3.9 to 5.3.12).
This device may only be operated
with the individually identified media (air
or water). Only verified and approved ho-
ses must be used, see section 6 and 8.
3 Temperature classification T(X)
As our devices do not generate heat
on their own, we are unable to make
any temperature classification (= T(X)). The
temperature classification must be made
and applied by the operator in accordan-
ce with the current ATEX Directive on the
basis of the ATEX zone in question.
Use of hose reel type Series 886 Ex in ATEX zones 1 and 2.
Ambient pressure within the range 0.8 bar to 1.1 bar
Ambient temperature within the range 0 °C to +40 °C
In ambient temperatures below 0 °C, observe
the special instructions on
page 3 – Commissioning,
page 4 – Decommissioning
(Freezing when using water).
4 Explanation of DIN EN 1127-1
zones 1 and 2
Zone 1:
A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a
mixture with air of flammable substances in the form of gas,
vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation
occasionally.
Zone 2:
A place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting
of a mixture with air of flammable substances in the form of
gas, vapour or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation
but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period only.
