Installation and operating instructions

Ecocirc D5 solar DC pump
5 Curve
6 Installation Sequence
It is recommended to install a shut-off valve in front and in back of the pump so the pump can be replaced at
a later time without completely draining the system. When operated in a solar heating system, the pump must
be installed in the flow to the collectors and protected against steam by a reflux valve (see Figure 6).
If water can pass through the pump opposite the direction of flow, a reflux valve should be installed
!
because water flowing at high speeds opposite the direction of flow can damage the pump.

7 Installation
Installation may only be performed in dry, frost-proof rooms in one of the authorised mounting positions (see Figure 7).
The ambient temperature may not exceed 50° C during operation; a maximum of 90° C is permitted
!
at standstill.
The unit may not be installed in areas where there is a danger of explosion. The customer
WARNING
must take appropriate isolation measures and provide appropriate acoustic insulation to
reduce possible noise.

7.1 Electrical Connection

D5 solar has a two-core connection cable (1 m in length) that is used to connect D5 solar to a DC current
source (8-24 V): Red conductor = positive, black conductor = negative.
Twist the supply cables together to prevent the generation of electromagnetic interference fields.

7.2 Getting Started
Before starting, the system must be:
- filled. Do not run pump dry.
!
- rinsed thoroughly to remove impurities and foreign bodies from the system.
- completely deaerated.
Audible flow noises indicate that there is still air in the pump. If necessary, remove the residual air in the pump
as follows:
- Turn off power to pump.
WARNING
- Shut off supply cables.
- Loosen the screw ring on the pump and carefully open the supply until water runs of the
!
screw ring. Prevent the electrical connection to the pump from getting wet.
8 Maintenance and Disassembly
Pumps are wearing parts. If the pump is blocked or grinding noises are audible, check the pump and replace
it if necessary. Procedure
- Disconnect pump from main power supply.
WARNING
- Shut off the pump from both sides.
- Loosen screw ring (prevent the emerging water from getting the electrical connection to the pump
!
wet).
- Manually and carefully pull the motor unit/wheel unit upward and remove it.
- If applicable, remove foreign bodies and impurities/deposits with appropriate agents. Reinsert the
rotor unit/wheel unit.
- The bearing is worn if the rotor unit/wheel unit cannot freely move or if grind marks are visible.
Replace the rotor, pump motor, or the entire pump.
