Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. All devices must be powered directly off a grounded
switched circuit and cannot be run off a rheostat or dimmer circuit, even if the rheostat or dimmer channel
is used solely for 0 % to 100 % switching.
The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.
6.2
Installation
1. Choose a suitable mounting spot. Place the device on a level, flat surface. Do not hang the device.
2. Remove all packing material. Check that all foam and plastic padding is removed, and make sure nothing is
obstructing the haze outlet [6].
3. Take the reservoir [3] out of its compartment. Unscrew the cap [4].
4. Pour high quality smoke liquid (VDLHLH5) into the reservoir. Do not overfill, and make sure not to spill any
liquid on the device. Use only haze liquids as specified in this user manual.
5. Place the cap back on the reservoir and tighten. Place the reservoir back into the reservoir compartment.
6. Push the plastic tube [5] down until the end (with the filter) is at the bottom of the reservoir. Make sure
the tube is not squeezed or twisted.
7. If you want to use the device with the remote control [1], plug the remote control into the remote control
socket [7].
8. Connect the power cord [10] to a suitable mains outlet and switch the device on [14].

DMX-512 Connection

When applicable, connect an XLR cable to the female XLR output of a controller (not incl.) and the other
side to the male XLR input [11] of the device. Multiple devices can be linked through serial linking. The
linking cable should be a dual core, screened cable with XLR input and output connectors.
Maximum recommended serial data link distance is 500 meters (1640 ft). Maximum recommended number
of fixtures on a serial data link is 32 fixtures.
A DMX terminator is recommended for installations where the DMX cable has to run a long distance or is in
an electrically noisy environment (e.g. discos). The terminator prevents corruption of the digital control
signal by electrical noise. The DMX terminator is simply an XLR plug with a 120 Ω resistor between pins 2
and 3, which is then plugged into the XLR output socket [12] of the last device in the chain.
7.
Operation
The device can operate independently using the remote control, or via DMX.

Operation Notes

Never run the device without liquid: this may cause permanent damage to the device.
If you experience low output, mechanical noise or no output at all, unplug the device immediately. Check
the fluid level, the fuse, the remote control, and the power cord. If all appears to be working properly, plug
in the unit again. If the device will not function after 30 seconds, discontinue operation to avoid permanent
damage. Return the device to your dealer. Remember to drain the reservoir before transporting the unit.
Using the device will produce water drops at the haze outlet. This is perfectly normal.
A little smoke may continue to escape from the haze outlet after operation.
7.2
Operation Using the Remote Control
Using the remote control, the device can run:
in timer-controlled mode: produce haze in pre-defined time intervals. You can set the duration of the haze
output, the time in between outputs, and the output volume.
in continuous mode: produce haze continuously.
in manual mode: manually produce haze while you press the <MANUAL> button.
Timer-Controlled Mode
1. Use the <DURATION> button to set the duration of the haze output (1 – 15 seconds).
2. Use the <INTERVAL> button to set the interval between two haze outputs (0.5 – 60 minutes).
3. Use the <OUTPUT> button to set the output volume.
4. Press the <TIMER ON/OFF> button to start the timer-controlled mode. The LED above the button lights. To
stop, press the button again.
