Note: On each clamp every 4Ω loudspeaker impedance results to a resistance of 2Ω. With each 2Ω is
there actually only 1Ω and with each 1Ω only 0.5Ω. This impedance halving effect is arrived at
through the internal parallel connection of the connecting terminals.
Figure 3: Connection of one or two subwoofers. For subwoofers with dual voice coils, one connecting
terminal pair for each voice coil can be used.
Setting of „Subwoofer"
Low Pass:
The active internal crossover allows only frequencies, depending on the adjustment of the
potentiometers „LPF" (16), of up to 5000 Hz at 12 dB slope per octave, to pass. A low uncoupling
frequency (80 Hz / red point) has the advantage that the subwoofer, generally placed in the vehicle
trunk, is no longer indiscernible, but takes its place in the front of the overall sound.
High Pass (Subsonic):
The internal high pass (subsonic) filter frees the subwoofer and amplifier from all frequencies below
those set on the potentiometer „HPF" (15) (15 Hz to 500 Hz with 12 dB slope per octave). Thereby
frequencies not reproducible by the subwoofer are restrained and unnecessary load on the subwoofers
and amplifier is prevented.
TIP:
Use subsonic with a cut off frequency of 20-30 Hz. This increases the power handling and
lifespan of the amplifiers and subwoofers!
Many subwoofers cannot correctly render frequencies below 30 Hz, producing instead hot
air without volume. The subwoofer should be protected from these frequencies to increase
the lifespan of the subwoofer and amplifier by preventing unnecessary load.
